~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello Everyone! So glad to be here with all of you.  My son is in Ship 13 Div 333. My first experience with a child in the Navy.  I received the form letter and the box on Monday, July 8th.  I gather it is a good idea to start lining up travel arrangements for PIR? Which is the best way to line this up--using travelosity or call the number on the brochure sent in the envelope?  He will be flying out to attend "A" school. Is it possibly better to ship his personal stuff to him when he gets an address for his "A" School... Excluding his cell phone I assume he will be able to take it with him to "A" school.

Good Morning Friends!

Good Morning!

Donna, not sure how they assign the divisions.  Just know that the last ones in a PIR group to fill up are usually "push" divisions which mean they have less training days than others.

Mindy: No, very doubtful that your sailor will stay through the weekend at RTC if flying out to A School.  They almost always leave on Saturday, sometimes Sunday but rare.  But if you can, it would be good to stay through the weekend just in case!  Never say never in the Navy!  They will not know their travel arrangements until shortly before PIR.

And, yes, you have to meet your sailor at the airport to give personal items.  They cannot take them back to RTC.

SouthernCaliMom:  Try and stay until late Sunday if possible just in case.  For those staying in GL for A School, for sure plan to fly back late Sunday night or even Monday since they will have daytime liberty through the weekend.  Those staying in GL for A School are the lucky ones with family visits!  :-)

My sons recruiter told us right before he left that a lot of graduates are leaving on Monday now. Some on Saturday but it's up in the air.. I heard in order to give him his phone and computer to take to A school we have to meet him at the airport so I was thinking of just staying until Monday evening to be safe.. Has anyone else heard of them heading out Monday?

Hi, received box and letter yesterday. He arrived 7/8 around midnight.  Just going to start making my reservations. My son will be traveling to VA after PIR. Does anyone know wether we get to see them on Sat. or should I make my return trip back to LA earlier in the day. ( If it changes I don't mind paying the extra fee, a lot cheaper than a refundable ticket)
