Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Expecting I'm a Sailor calls today from 331-334!  Keep the phones close by.  Calls can start around 2pm Central time, but may start later (or a little earlier) than that.  Post when you hear from your new sailor!

Here is the BattleStations discussion group for more info!

Good Morning All

Jae:  They are suppose to call home if they have not passed the PFA by a certain time, but sometimes families are left in "limbo" during PIR week not hearing from their SR.  Hopefully, none on here will get THAT call, but rather the I'm a Sailor call!

Comment by diannep on August 28, 2013 at 10:10pm

No problem, MontanaMom!  Sorry I misunderstood!

Jae:  No, they must have passed all tests, academic and fitness, before they can do BattleStations.

Yes, Bridget:  What was said was that if the SR doesn't pass the final PFA before his/her division does BattleStations, that person goes into FIT to keep trying.  They get to try M W F each week.  If they pass by W of PIR week, they will do BattleStations with another group and be at PIR.  Occasionally, that means they have to do it the night BEFORE PIR (overnight drill) so that would mean a very tired sailor sitting in the balcony for PIR rather than marching with their division.  Although. we have heard that some manage to still march!

If they don't pass their final PFA by their PIR, they stay in FIT and keep trying.  Not sure how many tries they get...but I have heard that as long as they keep improving, they get more chances.  Some have been there 3 weeks or longer and still passed.  They really work with them.  Once they pass, they do BattleStations and head to A School....no PIR once they miss their own.

Diannep: Sorry for the confusion--My editor will not put it in the paper without the form.  He will however, make sure it gets in there if he gets the form.  I was just say I know my newspaper editor supports our military and my SR.  Sorry for the confusion.

Bummed, for the first time since he begin wrtiting I did not get a letter today. This is the first week I haven't gotten one so hoping I will tomorrow but they have always come on Wednesday's without fail.

From what I understand on this site, they only do Battlestations if everything else is passed. It actually said somewhere that if they get to BST, they will graduate for sure, (but they might be so tired from a redo if they are in the small % that don't make it through the exercise the first time), that they will be watching graduation from the balcony! I think I read that in the BST info that was on the specific BST info page!!! Veteran Moms, is that right? I swear I dream that I have read stuff that doesn't exist at times!
