~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Sharla,

Praying all will be fine with your SR's legs and that she will pass that most important PFA!!  Rely on the peace that God gives you.  He is in control~~

JLM-MN & bchis,

How great that your SR have gotten 5s on their tests/ inspections!!  Way to go for them!!

JLM,  Your SR is totally correct that when one is chatting and laughing, one is not listening!!  Hope those doing that will realize they are putting others at risk~

I was worried about the getting sick thing with my SR but so far she hasn't even had a cold! Her immune system must have kicked into overdrive big time! :) Maybe it's because she has worked the medical field for so long. That probably didn't hurt.

Thought I would post something positive this time. lol

Oh boy Sharla....sounds likes she is dealing with alot!  But they haven't asmoed her yet, right?  Sounds like maybe she has a mild case if they already have her off LLD.  That would be good....hopefully she is back to normal soon and getting that run done!  Shin splints are very common during Bootcamp....but many are asmoed until they heal.  So sounds like she is one of the lucky ones...

Hoping you will be able to post good news soon!

Good Morning All !

Was excited because I got a long letter, but can't say I'm really happy about it.   She started off good, saying that Marlinspike was cool, especially the 2nd time they did it because then they knew what they were doing.  Their division (335) nailed the weapons turnover inspection. She gets told she talks in her sleep a lot (I knew that), and she got corn rows.  (Say what?)  She's looking forward to A-school and a little freedom.  And Netflix.

Then 4 pages about all the bickering and drama.  So much girl drama, and some of it turned on her.  So now she's staying to herself with the exception of a couple of people....  She says it's like high school crap all over again and she's ready for it to be over.  She got a new bunkmate for some reason that is negative about everything and it's driving her crazy.

There are so many people sick and injured that the rest of them have watch every other night.  She was improving on her run.  Then on 8/9 someone timed out in the first minute of a PFA test and they had to reschedule it.  And on 8/10 her leg gave out during "Bases" so she had to go to Medical and wait in a chair for 6 hours to be told she has shin splints (great. ).  So she was then LLD till Wednesday (would have been yesterday) which means she'll have to do the PFA after a week of no working out. And she has to miss weapons handling practice and drill. One of the girls got caught with food in her A/B drawer and the RDC went off on them and did a mandatory drawer check.

I'm stressed.  Was worried about that run cutting things close and now shin splints.

JLM:  They leave for A School usually the day after PIR.  Occasionally they are held longer at RTC, but that is not normal.  If there are flight availability issues, they could leave Sunday, but again, not common.

It is usual for them to be "held" for a while at A School before starting classes....different for each base.  My son started classes about 12 days after arriving at his base, but sometimes it is longer than that.
