~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Congrats to all the new Sailors and their families.  Thank you all for making this journey a little less painful for the family members at home.  My wonderful baby girl is now a US Navy Sailor Miss Airman Apprentice is at her A-School Location waiting to Class Up.  She is a bit frustrated with waiting and figuring out all the rules but she will be fine.  I hope all are getting situated at their new locations and we will be praying for and thinking of all of these wonderful sailors and their families and friends.

I'm in Monterey where I am actually from. Just got here from O'Hare to SFO and drive to Monterey. If you need anything call me. I will be here until Monday about 2:00, then heading to Sacramento. 916.893.1931

Monterey has an airport, so I think they would ultimately have her land there.  I'm thinking if she is very sick, she may just be resting and will contact you tomorrow sometime~~

To give you some perspective: The drive from LAX to Monterey will take a good 4-5 hours. I used to live in San Miguel, which is about 3 1/2-4 hours from LA, depending on traffic, and it would take about another 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get to Monterey. I pray you hear from her soon.

Not sure the airlines can confirm the passenger lists, even after the fact.

I can imagine your concern--we moms just need to know!....especially since she was alone...but it could be that she has been busy on the base and has not been able to call yet.  She may have had a sailor from this new base waiting for her at the airport and therefore couldn't call from there before she left.

She may not have had a chance to buy a cellphone at the NEX yet, but she can borrow one from a sailor already there or use her phone card (if she still has one) to use a payphone (easier to borrow a cell).  Remember, she is in CA so she may still call tonight since it is only a little after 5 there.  I sure hope so.  Post when you hear from her.  I know the waiting is awful, but I really do feel she is fine....she may be a bit overwhelmed with the new base and new people.  Prayers for her....Bless Her Heart....traveling alone and sick on top of that!

Krine, could you call the airline? At least to make sure that she made her connection? I don't know what info they can give you, but at least you can place her safely there? If she had NOT arrived, I am pretty sure you would have been contacted, but it would at least give you something to do, because the helplessness is so awful.....

Okay moms, I'm hoping someone here can offer some info or suggestions.  DD graduated Friday.  She was traveling to Monterey Sat.  She told us she would get a cell as soon as she got there, and call.  The last we heard from her was while she was in O'Hare, waiting for the flight to LAX.  So I have no clue if she arrived in Monterey safely or anything else.

Here's the big problem.  She was flying exhausted, sick and alone. I know I can call the quarterdeck there at Monterey but they may not give me info and I'd rather not do anything that could get her into trouble.

So any suggestions??

Hello everyone! Anyone with a sailor at Goose Creek for nuke (NNPTC), we have created a FB group for all parents/loved ones who graduated with our PIR group. If you would like to join in, please search for NUKES from 9/6/2013 PIR group & request to join! We are going to be together for a long time & we thought that it would be fun to augment the current groups already in place!
