~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@CatMom

Thank you. I'm very proud of her(my wife) too. We don't have a daughter yet! I was a bit surprised she didn't come but I agree she made a good decision there. I can't imagine how hard it would be to re-focus after escaping for a couple days.

Ship 12 div 331 . Got a nice letter from our son today dated July 25!  He said they had a 4 hr inspection that day.  They had to stand completely still while the higher ups went through all their belongs, lockers, looking for things to be in the correct order...180 SRs were check during the 4 hours.  He commented that there are still a lot of probs with SRs on his ship/div getting along.  I think it's pretty frustrating for those who are doing what they are there to do.  Oh, and he said the food is good, but he has lost 10 pds.

Thanks navydad! Great timing for your comment. Needed to hear that today. Some days are definitely harder than others. Reminders of our children being in good hands always helps :)

ScoobyDo:  Just remind her that A School is a totally different ballgame!  She will be back in touch with family/friends on a consistent basis and will phase up to be able to leave the base at times and wear civilian clothes.  It gets better!  :-)  Tell her to hang in there!

I totally agree with what NavyDad said.  These RDCs want them to succeed...and will do what they need to in order to draw the best out of them.  My son was not so thrilled with bootcamp, but really enjoyed A School!  :-)

bchis,

Your SR daughter has got it!!  That really struck me that she was realistic about her priorities--yep, finishing strong in Navy boot camp and continuing with the rest of her Navy journey is surely an awesome way to honor her loved one.  Dad, you have raised a great daughter who will be a very proud United States Navy Sailor!!

You will still have her weekly letters to keep you going.  Rest assured, that going into this "radio silence" will be the time that all the divisions will come together and work out their kinks!

Just keep reminding yourselves that what we are going through as parents doesn't compare to what our children are experiencing right now.  Stay strong for them!

Also remember that they are being taken care of and very well cared for right now by men and women of our great military that want nothing less than to bring out the best in each one of our kids.

I can't wait till each one of you gets to see your Sailors again and just marvel at the change that has taken place.  My parents didn't even recognize me when I was done.

Sharla- my feelings are mirrored, I keep telling myself you can do this, it's only 35 more days, but I so miss the daily chit chat, and nonesense of our conversations, she has such a great personality, made me laugh all the time!  I hope that once I am able to talk to her on a regular basis things will be easier, well at least that is what I keep telling myself.
