~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Div 338 is most likely near mid to end of Training Week Two. If your SR mentioned a big test it most likely is their 1st Academic test on:
2-3 Day:
- Test one on:
~~First Aid
~~ Enlisted Rate/Rank recognition
~~ Uniform and Grooming
~~ US Navy Ships and Aircraft
They also have a couple of "first" inspections as well.
See this NavyDEP thread that has detailed info as to what happens from P-days to end of Training week 6:

PAGES has lots of info that we will be posting throughout the next weeks until PIR for your reference convenience :-). PAGES is located here on your PIR GROUP just under the MEMBERS pictures.
Does anyone know what type of test Div 338 has tomorrow? Still haven't heard anything from my SR!!
Yeah, the idea that they own my wife (which means they own half of ME!) bothers me... but that's just the way it is, I suppose.
Lynn: Yep! The best way to think of it is that the Navy pretty much "owns" your child. Tough to think that way, but true. If there are issues, your SR/sailor will have to be the one to address them. My son would say that the Navy owned him, and I would remind him that they also take care of him.
Anyway, it is really hard for those of you with the younger SRs....mine was 23 when he went in and had lived on his own, so it wasn't so drastic for me. But it is hard when they are still "young" to know they are in charge of decisions they may not have faced before. But they learn!
Hi Friends!
"I will give You thanks in the great assembly;
among throngs of people I will praise You."
Psalm 35:18
My SR said he had to get his Wisdom Teeth cut out in his letter. I didn't think to much about it at the time. I didn't realize they would be doing it during BC. I will have to wait and see if he tells me about it in his next letter.
They do get pain meds and 2-3 days SIQ and LLD when their wisdom teeth are removed. They are taken care of. :)
When you look at the random photos on the RTC FB page look at the photos that are taken in the berthing quarters, you may see some recruits in their rack. Those recruits in their racks are SIQ with wisdom teeth, illness, minor injury, etc.
Thank you diannep! SR's father and I assumed that they decided it's best to take the teeth now so there are no issues down the road. When my kids were younger the dentist did tell us those wisdom teeth would have to come out. It was no surprise.
Lynn, I understand your frustration as a parent. We went through this when our kids were at college. Although we were paying the tuition, we were not privy to their medical/dental issues while there. My SR is 25 years old so I've grown accustomed to not knowing everything. And you know what? They manage to do fine without this mama's worries.... And that is a good thing. :)
