~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lol, Disneygirl 9519, that is so true.  Many of the things my son said to us on the phone we already knew because other moms had already shared the info.

Zachsmom94, you and your son are in my prayers.

I know exactly what you mean zachsmom. I am the exact same way. I am positive that he is doing just fine and will call soon. You are in my prayers tonight

I'm honestly trying so hard to be positive and think that he just had to be on watch, but the not knowing makes your mind wander off to places you would rather it didn't go. I pray to God it is nothing serious!!

Thank you Diannep~how long are they on watch for at a time?

lovinglife:  If they leave bootcamp, it is very hard for them to get back in.  The Navy is "overmanned" right now and so they don't need to take sailors who were already there....or ones who need waivers to get back in.  It really would be better for him to stay and just be setback 2 weeks.  My son was setback a week when he was there...it was not a big deal and he became a sailor.

So....just my 2 cents worth.  He will do what he wants to do, but I don't want him thinking that he can just leave and get back in for sure.  There is a good chance that won't happen.  If he has just decided that the Navy is not for him and has no plans to re-enlist, then he probably should just come home.  Prayers that he make the right decision for him!

KatieD:  Those were probably some of the SRs who had just finished Captains Cup today.  If so, they graduate next Friday!

zachsmom:  When my son was at bootcamp, he missed a division call because he had watch...he was allowed to call after he got off.  That is not guaranteed, but it does happen sometimes.

Comment by Katie D (Ship 3 Div 338) on July 27, 2013 at 11:21pm

Got a call from my son, he said they had the call on their schedule for 19:00 but had crossed it off, probably because so many failed their inspection earlier this week.  At about 19:20 they were told to go call.

He said he could see several recruits that will graduate this week near the pay phones and they were drinking soda, eating cookies, and checking out their Facebook accounts.  Some day that will be out recruits!

My son called at 6:25 their time! :)

Looks like he isn't the only one that says some of the SRs need to learn how to shut up and listen (his words).

Tammy.....I am laughing so hard. I told my son about these " Navy mom's " group I joined. He's probably thinking if they're anything like you...we should all send our SR's what you wrote they would all crack up...LOL

The best thing my son said is the news I'm sending him. He's a Dodger fan so I am printing out something everyday and sending it plus the latest CNN stories.
