~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

If they have A school in Great Lakes, then you should have the weekend to spend with them. If their A school is elsewhere, then you may have less time to spend.

There was a mom who was supposed to be at PIR today to see her Sailor graduate. Yesterday her flight was canceled and she couldn't get another until this morning so she missed his PIR. I highly suggest you travel a day early if at all possible. Even if you can or can't do that make some friends on here or on the facebook group with a Sailor in the same division and share your cell numbers with each other. That way you can contact them if something like this comes up and they can talk to your Sailor and let them know what is going on and maybe even take them with their family for the day so that they are not just wandering around wondering why their family is not there. We are all Navy Family now and we take care of each other. The love and friendship you form now will amaze you and may last a lifetime. Also, if you have to take a later flight change your voicemail to say what is going on and when you will be landing in case your Sailor does call. Always good to have a backup plan :)

My SR's letters came in. It doesn't seem like she's liking the process very much. I expected that. If it's anything like it use to be, the majority of the stuff they have to do is pointless. It's more about tradition and "trying to be hard"... It just ends up being monotonous and just plain silly for those that are actually paying attention and trying.

Physically, she is doing great. Mentally and emotionally, not so much. lol - She said she feels less intelligent than she did when she left... Her confidence in "mankind" is at an all time low. Their division is still not getting along and things are just becoming "embarrassing". The "bad SRs far outweigh the good SRs."

She doesn't seem to be worried about passing any of her tests. She has done very good so far. I was very proud about that one!

She misses home more than anything and "would come home now if I could." But she isn't a quitter and she is going to push through... Just sucks that now she realizes she doesn't like the system and how things operate. She really hates that they are trying to make robots and that they tell you that it's "Navy first and family last." She doesn't agree with that part and made a couple jokes about it. Was pleased she was able to joke at all. lol

I'll make sure to tell her that it won't always be like this... Unfortunately, that will be a lie b/c the parts of the process she doesn't like never changes. :/ -- Owell, she is stuck in it now. Maybe she'll like it more once she starts her school and working. It's a learning experience, if nothing else.
