It depends on their orders. They can't "get" overnight liberty..it's whatever they're given.

It just depends on when they are moving over to the A-school side at Great Lakes. It's something that they will be told the morning of graduation, from what I'm told. And it's ONLY if they have A-school at Great Lakes, but, tho I don't know the "real answer" from what I understand, not everyone gets it. I'm not sure why some do and why some don't. It just depends.

i don't mind the cold so much but rain sucks! Better pull out the sweaters, hoodies, AND umbrella's! ugh! Hard to believe when i'm still running the a/c here at home.

Yes, Ladies!!! It IS chilly here! I stepped outside last night and ran back in for my jacket because it was windy and very chilly. :) Make sure you bring something for rain too, because Chicago has spurts of rain and it's not fun to walk in! :) Especiallly if you go to the Navy Pier with your Sailor. BTW, the fireworks are AWESOME...they start at 9:30 pm on Wednesday and 10 pm on Saturday. Just remember that your Sailors, if students at GL's need to be back MUCH sooner than that. But if they have overnight liberty, it might be fun to go watch them. I'd never seen a better show! :)

FYI.. might want to bring some warm clothes. My son said its starting to get chilly there. I think someone said rain on Friday?
Comment by diannep on September 4, 2010 at 11:07pm
For any of those who will be traveling by plane to GL on Thurs when their sailor may be making the I'm a Sailor call, change your cell voicemail to greet your new sailor and ask him/her to call back several times leaving messages and info so that when your phone is back on after your flight, you will hear from them!
Comment by nicole~a sailors girl(: on September 4, 2010 at 11:06pm
I'll definitely ask him. I'm just trying for a guesstimate around the time they're calling. i know, hard to pin point lol. thanks for the help!:)

Yes Nicole, My daughter said 3rd test on Tuesday, Battlestations on Wednesday and graduation on Friday. They should call anytime between 1400-1900.
