Clearly I have passports on the brain .... another thing I learned as A went on his ship.  It is good for them to have a civilian passport on their person, especially those being anywhere near the countries in the Middle East.  What I learned is ... if for emergency purposes .... say someone in the family should pass and they need to get home, it is much easier to travel out of those countries with a civilian passport.  They don't have to have it .... it is just better if they do.  Let me know if my explanation just poses more questions than it helps to highlight.

Hi Ladies - Wow lots to take in. Sweaty coconut balls, funny ducks, low-down cheating-good for nothing-slime ball EX boyfriends....

I'll start there. Corie - I'm so so sorry you had to experience that. Rack it up as a learning process about what you don't want in a partner. He definitely doesn't deserve you. Your support and love were abused and that is just not right. I firmly believe once a cheater, always a cheater, so beware if he approaches you with "I'm sorry". I doubt it. He's sorry his ass got caught. To me there is nothing more hurtful you could to in a relationship then disrespect your partner in that way. That is not love. NO WAY! Now recipe for moving on. Dark chocolate and or your favorite ice cream, box of tissue, your favorite romantic chick flick, and have yourself a swollen eye, red nose, snot dripping cry. Once you have done that get some tea bags soaked in milk, put them on your eyes - well that or cucumbers, smear on a facial, lie back to some relaxing (NOT SAD) music and make a mental list of all the good things about yourself. Then put on some sexy shoes, a little black dress, vamp the hair out, throw on some makeup and go have yourself some fun dancing. A good night sleep after that and you can start to believe "life is good and it goes on". Anyone who doesn't believe heart ache isn't real is a moron. Even the scientist say it's real, so know it's okay to grieve for the relationship, be angry at the dumb ass looser, and know you are worthy of MUCH, MUCH, better. Hugs hon!

Okay I'm going to just answer in general and kind of randomly as I think of all the things I read. The derby thing is rough. I will have my first experience on the 24th. I'm so excited to do something that I know I'd enjoy. I will keep you all posted (ha haha... like I can ever shut up) and post pics when I have them. Yes, Cody was surprised. He said something like "what the hell are you doing here" when he saw her and gave her a huge hug that lasted a little while. He doesn't show his emotions too much, so this made me almost tear up. I was so distracted I forgot to take a picture. Lol.. so I made them re-enact it. After that Haley road home with him and then we visited, took a walk together as a family, went out for dinner, Haley and I watched a couple of episodes of "The Tudor" and then Cody joined us for some "Dexter". Exhausted, we finally went to bed. They are all sleeping still. Today we are going to a Machine Gun Shoot - where Cody can shoot all sorts of automatic weapons. Lol... isn't that a 17 year old boys dream day.

AJ - I was too late on Friday to submit my paperwork to the post office for my passport, but I plan on doing it Monday. I will see if I can afford the expedite it. I'd love to come to Costa Rica.  What a dream. Could you stand me? I might never put my camera down. Howler Monkeys!!!! So cool. Anyhow I will let you know what I have that. Glad the earthquake didn't do any damage. I was in the 1989 World Series Earth Quake. I live in Napa. CA at that time - which isn't very far from San Fransisco, so not at the epicenter. I actually thought it was kind of exciting. Don't get me wrong, the destruction and deaths/injuries are horribly tragic, but when no one is hurt and you are just riding it out in a rolling office chair, it's kind of a kick. There were huge swells/rolling that hit the Sonoma county area. Anyhow, there isn't anything you can do about them, so you just have to go with the flow.

Hurley - I hope the 6 weeks fly by. We all feel your pain. Hang in there, hugs, "there, there", RSL, from the bottom of our hearts.

Okay family are up so I need to cut this short. Sorry to those I didn't get to comment on. I will try to catch up later

Hope everyone has a GREAT day.HUGS!!

One more thing .... about passports .... for those of you who do not have one .... I would get one whether or not you are planning to travel ..... because, now that our sons and daughters are moving about the globe .... you want the freedom and ability to act and go hop on a plane at a moment's notice.  This could be for something wonderful like going to meet them in Italy, Australia, Japan, etc., .... or, if your Sailor should need you to get to another country for health reasons or any other reasons that I don't need to elaborate on here.  You just want to be able to go when you want to, when you might need to.  For me, it is a more peaceful feeling knowing that I have mine and that it is always current.  For adults it is ten years, for children under 16 five years.

Corie .... I'm so sorry that this is how your boyfriend chose to thank you for standing beside him, loving him, encouraging him, and waiting for him. One of the things that I've learned in life is that when something like this happens, there is always something even better being prepared for you, coming to you. I know it sucks. I know it creates a broken heart and resentment and anger. But, you, Corie, are deserving of a person who will meet you on all levels. So in my book, he didn't deserve you. Be gentle with yourself and your heart right now. So glad you came back here to tell us .... as before, we will be here for you as much as you can stand! Look forward .... something good this way comes!

hurley .... We know that this is a really tough and challenging time for recruits. He is well on his way to being an amazing member of the Coast Guard. He will be so proud of himself when he graduates for enduring the rigors of boot camp. It does break your heart as a mom when you know they are sad and lonely and to know that you are sharing a number one position with his wife. That's how I choose to look at it for you .... not that you are number two now, but that you are sharing number one .... that you have equal space inside his heart. We are rooting for you Marc .... all the way to graduation and beyond. Can't wait to see those pictures from his graduation. He will be beaming, you and his wife will be radiant ... and things will feel whole again. I hope the news about his station will come in today and that all will be pleased with wherever it is. Anticipation!

I am going to go check out that skit 'Svetty Balls' as soon as I leave this N4M's site. I kind of remember it, but want to laugh at it again.

d o ... I forgot to mention the 'there, there' thing yesterday when I wrote. That did crack me up .... because I've said the 'there, there' thing before .... and I love how your family converted it to be followed by laughter. What a cool thing to have as a tool and as a warm memory. Let's give all who need it today a warm there, there .... and then a wee giggle for letting it go.

To all who do not have a passport, did you know that you can expedite the process? You simply ask for expedited service (and pay a little more) and then pay for overnight service to your nearest office and overnight service back to you. You will have your passport in less than a week. I've done expedited service twice before .... once for a name change and once to renew. Most post offices offer the full service now so you don't have to go one place to get your application, another for photos, another to process. One stop shopping. Check it out.

Oh hurley ... yes, they do have internet on the ships. Some even have wifi ... but only the newer ships. My son's does not have wifi. There are a limited number of computers so it is kind of first-come, first-serve (and as I understand it sometimes the Marines get dibs first). I don't think they can skype, or at least from my ship. And, some of the countries that they go to (Oman for example) it is actually illegal to use skype in their country. So be careful with that one. They can go to jail for that.

So, some of you may have read last night or this morning .... Costa Rica had an earthquake last night. It was 6.0 and the epicenter was almost exactly here where we are. It was a wild ride for a bit. No damage for us, just a bit unnerving. Don't let this dissuade you from considering a visit to this beautiful country. CR has over 3,000 earthquakes a year and for the past three years, had one a year in this range of magnitude. It's such a strange feeling though to stand there and wonder what you should do, where to go, save anything, calm the dogs, run .... and then it's over and everything goes back to normal. It is a land of earthquakes, volcanoes and infinite beauty. Don't be scared of it. Hey, life is an adventure!

My last comment this morning is a prayer .... Please God, please let River City be OVER!

Ok, I haven't received a letter from Marc this week... I am sad but I am also realistic. He is very busy and to write only a short paragraph to his wife , I know he's got to be busy! Unlike Matt, things don't come (academically) easy to Marc. Now physically I don't think he has a problem. No BROWN candles for him! Marc works hard for every A he gets (or tries to get). We still don't know
as of yet where he will be stationed. Today is the day, we hope, he makes his first phone call but to his wife not me. It will be 6 weeks before I get to hear his voice. I know, I shouldn't be whining about it, it could always be worse... My favorite saying...

Donna, I am so happy Amanda is loving it on board the ship. What an adventure for her. Just amazing how far our sailors have come! Do they get to skype or use the Internet on Ships?

Ok Mary, you and the whole cake ball thing and Shellys comment about the roasted coconuts just brought to mind the Saturday night live skit... Svetty Balls.. To this day I still pee my pants when I see it! Ok, yup, I'm a child caught in an old persons body... I still giggle when I see a topless person on the beach..yup, even got kicked off a beach in St Martin for that...

Aw, Shelly, I feel so bad for you. You made me tear up and that's not so easy to make me do. I am picturing him saying goodbye to you. It reminds me of the time I was working a flight from LGA and i was in the terminal and a father was hugging his son who was in uniform,. The kid was so strong but the father was
sobbing. Broke my heart. Who knows where this kid was going but by the actions of the dad it didn't seem like anywhere fun... To this day I can't get that image out of my head.

Hey Cold Blooded, bet your having the time of your life right now, WOOT WOOT! Please please please tell us all on how the surprise went! Haley has got to feel so good right now all snug in her home with all the ones she loves. Ah what a great feeling... Bet your new addition kitty got so big to Haley. So happy for you. Now you can do the happy dance on skates!

Ok AJ, I could take you up on that trip to Costa Rica! Such a beautiful place. Love the howler monkeys. Although they can creep me out a bit when they get too close...guess you get use to it . Oh and I use to eat those snow balls too! Hmm, I think I will send my husband out for some pink ones and white ones. He loves them too... Ugh, now look what you and Mary started!

Oh Corie , I really feel bad for you. You were with him through all the hard times. I just don't know what to say. Maybe he will realize before it's too late what a mistake he made. Men may think they are smarter than us but we are much wiser. {{{HUGS}}}

Well d o,it's Saturday, your much needed break from the kids at school. Enjoy it! God bless, I couldn't do what you do. Raised 4 of my own plus the neighborhood! Gotta love it!

Corie! I wondered, earlier, when I saw your FB post if that is what was going on. I am SOOOOO sorry! :(  Trust me, you're not the only girl lied to and cheated on. My husband said his ship was full of it.   (((hugs)))   Hang in there! There is some handsome, gentle, sweet man out there for you!  You deserve better than that.
Comment by Corie on May 14, 2011 at 12:07am

After all the months of being there for him trusting him and doing everything I can to make sure that he is happy. I am officially not A Navy GF anymore, He cheated and lied to me our entire relationship, and he got caught, I just feel sorry for the girl who is with him now, oh well she'll know what its like soon enough.

I am so great full for everyone here for being here through the ups and downs, thank you ladies so much for everything, keep me posed on how your Sailors are doing, I couldn't be more proud of them and what they are doing and what you have gone through.

crud!  i don't have a passport!  booooo!  thanks for the song AJ!   in fact, thanks all around for the hugs and words of encouragement!  d o.... love the "there, there"....that cracks me up!   really?  what does it mean?  lol!!

Iris!  So excited!  woo hoo!  i know exactly how you feel cuz that was me 2 short weeks ago!  everything was awesome and no one could pull me off cloud 9!  so, this roller derby thing.... is it dangerous?   the only thing i know about roller derby is the movie with Raquel Welch where she kicks some serious *ss!   you'll have to let us know how it goes!

mary....i love that goose thingy....where did you get it?   he's sooo cute!   so....cake balls....hmmm.....do you frost them?  please don't roll them in roasted coconut, ok?  that would be gross!  if you know what i mean......

Hurley, so glad kids are doing good.  it broke my heart to think of Marc weeping....that stuff really gets to me.  in fact, i probably would have been alot better at the airport if dyl's hadn't started to well up too.....that's when i couldn't hold it in......people probably thought i was going to a funeral!  ugh!

i'm feeling better now.....nothing like a few days back at work and people testing my patience to help me forget my sadness.   i think i need to take up kick boxing.... or maybe just plain ol' boxing.  would just love to hit a few select people that's all.

Donna, glad your daughter is enjoying her time on the ship!  that's music to my ears cuz i'm hoping that's how it will be for dyl's.

gotta run for now.....  talk to ya'll soon!   rsl and ebb!  ha!

I think surprises are some of the best things in life, especially Haley's sweet surprise .... and to know that Cody has such a big one in his day just makes me smile. Give Haley a big hug for me for being such an awesome sister, daughter, and Sailor! Wish I knew her beyond this forum. Iris, have the best time in the world with your girl.

Where's the cake? I'll have a piece. Cake balls ... now that just sounds funny .... but wait, I used to eat those Snow Balls when I was a kid .... loved the pink ones (and the white ones and the chocolate ones!) ... maybe you are onto something here Mary. Keep us posted on this one.

So who besides d o has their passport? Lyn B would .... anyone else? The reason I ask is that we just might have an opportunity if you wanted to come together to play ..... we should continue this conversation .................. !! :)

Shelly .... I think I might have mentioned this song back when we were in boot camp together. I used it multiple times each day and it became a balm, a sense of being held in a divine presence to see me through the rough days ... and to learn to trust that Aaron would be guarded, cared for, and loved no matter where he was or what he was doing. I listened to this song first thing when I woke up during boot camp and the last thing before I went to bed at night .... and can't tell you how many other times during those days. Now I listen to it at least once a day as it brings back that same wonderful sense of peace for me. So at the risk of being redundant in case I shared it last year, here is my song for aligning myself with trust, faith, and God's love. It is sung by a group from the UK called 'All Angels' and the song is Agnus Dei. This is just a video version of the song and filled with lots of religious pictures .... so if that is your thing, enjoy them ... if not, just close your eyes and listen .... your aching heart will taken in the music and feel all the better for having listened. Even if you like the pictures, close your eyes anyway! Okay, I'm getting the AJ nudge that I'm rambling and using too many words. I can do that sometimes.

Hasta luego mi amgias!

Hugs, kisses, warm embraces, RSL, and EBB!

Congrats Iris on getting to see Haley today. Cody will be so surprised.

Finally got an e-mail from my daughter telling me all that she has been doing on board the ship. She is having so much fun and loving it. So happy for her.

Mrs. B- So sorry about the bad news but so glad things are looking up for  you guys. Wish  you the best.

Hope everyone hears from their sailors.
