So, dyl's is off to his new adventure! weee! ok...i'm trying to be positive but really i'm just sitting here bawling because i don't know when i'll get to hear from him..... so really these last 10 months have only taught me how to cry in spurts! thanks for the hearwarming story d o.... how touching was that?! i loved it! Iris,i love the pics of the kids.... they sure grow up quickly! Iris, i'm so glad you get to see Haley soon! it's such an exciting time when they're home!
AJ...thanks for the prayer......the Lord must have known i needed to read that today!
Donna - glad you heard from your daughter. any little tidbit is better than nothing! right?! ha!
Mary, I'm sure D is starting to get impatient but it sure is nice knowing that they're at school and that you can get in touch with them fairly easily. I think most of the kids get antsy after awhile but when it's finally time to leave, it's a little scary.
I'll check in again soon to see how everyone is doing....maybe by then, i'll get myself pulled together! Have a super day everyone!
I finally got my second e-mail from my daughter last night. Short and to the point but at least I heard from her. I had told her I was sending her a calling card. She said she will try but the phones suck. Said she bought everyone something while they were in port and will buy everyone something at the next port as we are going to love it. End of e-mail. I will take anything at this point.
AJ- hope you get to hear from yours soon. Would love to go to Costa Rica someday.
Iris- you can order those pills on line without a prescription. I know quite a few people who take them. Just google the name. It will ask you a couple questions from an MD who will send them to you. Can get the exact address if you need me to. Cute pics of the kids.
DO- what a great Mother's Day present you received. What a surprise!
Mary- Congrats on your son looking ahead to his future about buying a house now. You can pick them up so cheap now vs later.
Nicole- Sounds like you had a wonderful 2 weeks.
Hope all continue to hear from their sailors.
"Female's in Quarters" - Good Morning Ladies... Wow what really fabulous stories.
DO - Wow, wow, and more wow's. What an incredibly sweet young man to do that. What's his name and address, I have a daughter I want him to meet. Lol....
AJ - Yes, I love you now and would still love you even if you didn't end up being my dealer. I'm seeing the doctor today and we'll see if he's more sympathetic than my oncologist. Heart of stone that one has, when it comes to diet pills. Shesh! Love all the wonderful things you wrote. You are an amazing person, don't ever think otherwise. Now for the procedures I'd like done. First I think a new nose. This one keeps growing and is getting quite large. I think I'd like a better profile, so we'd have to see what they could do about that. From there, well I'm not sure. I'd have to see what my options are. I'm not a huge fan of lipo, otherwise we'd be going to town. Lol.... Anyhow, I'm getting my passport, so we'll talk. Lol.... ;P
Dyl's Mom - Very cool. How exciting and terrifying all at the same time. I would probably need a diaper for that landing. Lol... I know, I know, work on those kegels. Hope his first ship duty goes well. Enjoy the rest of your time with him and give him a big hug from us Mom's.
Mary - you kill me. Lol... So your son likes his wheels. Haley keeps saying, I'm not buying a new car. I'll get some rust bucket and drive it till it dies. She's frugral that way. Lol.... I think I spoiled them by making them buy their own cars and insuring them. Plus they had to pay for their own cell phones. Taught them how much stuff costs and to prioritize. Glad to hear you are also suffering exercise with me. It's good to have partner in pain. Lol...
Nicole - we've missed you. Sounds like you had a great two weeks. 30 day count down, oh that sucks. Get ready for the roller coaster ride. We'll be here for you. =) Now, keep us posted to your activities. You have more energy than most of us so it's fun to hear what you are doing in hyper drive. =) Lol...
Well ladies, I need to be going. I have a doctors appt and I need to get cleaned up and ready. Haley will be here Friday (so excited). I skype with her today at 1500. I think Cody is on to us. He requested Saturday, Sunday and Monday off from work. Sounds suspicious. Wish we could of surprised him, but I guess having not to work while she's here is better. Anyhow, I will chat with you all more soon. Hugs and RSL!
I liked the prayer AJ. Now it's my turn to cry.
Mary your son is a car pimp too!!
I forgot to tell you AJ that we watched "Carrier" when they were back in boot camp. I think it is a tremendous series. We couldn't wait to see what happened next. I've been trying to talk my sailors into watching it, so they would have an idea of what was coming. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a tiger cruise until I watched that show. Now it's on my bucket list. When things don't work out, I tell him he can make it up to me when he invites me on that 1st tiger cruise. (His response wasn't that enthusiastic)
He's decided that he wants to buy a house when he's out of school, so I'll have to tell him to watch the video that you shared. It's amazing how people get information so fast now days!
I've been musing about what procedure I would have done 1st, if I could ever get to Central America. It's nice to know that we have choices-whether we use them or not. RSL
Good morning special ladies!
do - what an amazing experience .... I am so glad that this happened to one of our special own and not just a wonderful story that I heard online or read about. Made me cry too .... and the fact that he did it on his own and that your son didn't even know about it ..... I am super impressed by this young man. So happy it happened to you!
Welcome back Nicole ... good to hear from you again.
We had the most in-cred-ible lightning storm here last night. Not scary lightning, but the most beautiful lightning I've ever seen in my life. It lasted for hours and was a combination of panoramic heat lightning and also regular bolts of lightning that spread vastly across the sky. I took some video with my camera and my cell phone and am eager to see how it turned out .... although not the proper equipment for such a heavenly artistic display. How I wish you guys could have seen it. I saw in absolute awe for almost 3 hours.
So two things for today. This video was prepared by the USS Carl Vinson, and is quite good at explaining the online threat of loose lips. Check it out: OPSEC and Social Media:

And one last piece that I liked:
Dear Lord,
Give me the greatness of heart to see the difference between a mother's love and duty to country.
Give me understanding that I may know, when duty calls them they must go.
Give me a task to do each day, to fill my thoughts when they're away.
And Lord, when they're in a foreign land, keep them safe in your loving hand.
And Lord, when duty is in the field, please protect them and be their shield.
And Lord, when deployment is so long, please give me the support to remain strong.
Amen
RSL to all this morning.
Wow AJ, thanks for all the Mother's Day gifts. I enjoyed opening and reading every one!
I had a Mother's Day surprise that was unexpected. I (like some of you) was not enjoying the fact that this was my 1st Mother's Day without my "baby".
When I was getting dressed, my husband said, "honey don't come out without your clothes on." (okay now you know something about me) When I walked out, there stood a young man with the same color hair and eyes as my sailor. It was one of his good friends. He came to take me to Mother's Day dinner. Later on the phone, I laughed @ my sailor and said, "you sent me a surrogate?! He's cute, but he could never take your place."
My son had no idea his friend was going to do that, but hey...God provides;)
I enjoyed everyone's post. RSL!!!!!!!!
