Mary your post made me laugh. I hate feeling like the old gal now.
Here's a funny for you. I had pre-k the other day and the other teacher was trying to get the kids to respond to her question. She said, "I have children and that makes me........." one of the kids blurted out, SCARED!
She wanted to hear "A Mommy", but leave to the little ones to get to the heart of the matter.
Happy Mother's Day all you dear Navy Mom's!!!! RSL
My ship has sailed:( My Mom is on hold until the 16th. My San Diego sailor's chit was denied to come be the best man at my petty officer foster son's wedding in June. I hate having a "no" season. I need some RSL.
I concur with all of the previous posts to all of you.
Iris I was surprised to hear about Cody after seeing his pictures and their smiling faces. Did she just get to serious?
AJ, I feel for you this weekend. I guess even looking fabulous (after the surgeries) doesn't fill the mommy hole. I wonder why they have been on river city so loooong? After the events of this last week I know you must be thankful they are in low profile mode. Maybe they were hosting that SEAL team. He might have some real stories to tell. The sooner the better must be what's going on in your mind. Do you think they even know it's Mother's Day on the ship? In light of the travel warnings that have been issued, I might be glad I'm not on the cruise. You might want to keep it on the down low too since you're down south. I hope you have a speedy recovery;)
Dyl's mom .... is your son still at home? I've lost track of time. I know how wonderful that time has been .... sorry about the weather.
Mrs. B .... it is great to hear your new sense of belonging and happiness. I'm glad that things are working out so well for you all. I hope things keep looking up and forward for you.
Nicole .... what's up girl? Where are you?
It feels like I am leaving someone out .... I'll have to go back through a few pages and see what I've forgotten.
I don't want to lose you guys, so I will come on every day and respond to posts and be more engaged. Lots of love and hugs to you all. :)
Hi and I am here again ... and no, please let's not yet go to a natural end of things. And I realize that this will require me to also come back and participate. I read your guys' news every day and would miss it for it to be gone. So I will jabber. I've had two oral surgeries and a dermatology appointment over the past two weeks. I have stitches upper and lower in my mouth; frozen, burned, and sliced places all over my body. Too much sun and living out of doors in my lifetime .... so paying the price now. Having these things done down here saves lots of $$.
We are still on River City and it is hard on everyone .... those on the ship, moms, wives, girlfriends, and the poor children .... everyone in the ship family is trying to hold everyone else up and there is no end in sight. Not sure how to walk through Mother's Day like it is no big deal. Time to pull on the big girl panties again. I will write him trusting that they do receive e-mails, even if they can't respond. The moms and wives have a virtual drink planned together for Sunday afternoon, from coast to coast, we will have a glass of wine and come onto our FB page at the same time. It's a sweet gesture .... we shall see if it fills the space of no contact.
I discovered yesterday that one can bake cakes, pies, brownies, etc. in Mason jars (wide mouthed best) and send them to your loved ones. Apparently a very big hit on the ship. If you guys aren't already aware of this, I can send you a link. Let me know if you would like it or more information.
d o ..... I would go to Spain with you in a second. One of the reasons I keep my passport current is so that I can travel whenever and wherever I want. It spells freedom for me. Are you still going to get to go? I've never been on a cruise. Is your mom doing okay?
Iris .... you do have a busy day on tap. I owe you a Congratulations for getting your port removed. That really is the exclamation point concluding the whole chapter for you, isn't it? Wow ... dates, airline tickets, and the beginning work of a tan .... NICE to know that is on the schedule and coming your way. It is great to have something so wonderful to look forward to. Did you have that Skype with Haley?
Mary ... glad you are feeling better ... it sucks to feel sick. Is Morgan going to workout with the Marines? That will get her tough and toned for sure.
Hurley ... yes a big congratulations to you .... I love weddings ... and I bet yours was more fun. I agree with Iris! I guess it is too soon for you to have word from Mark yet .... still thinking of him daily .... counting on you to let us know when you hear from him.
I had better post this and continue on another one.
Hi! So sorry... life is getting busy. Good Morning!!! So today I need to clean the bathroom, kitchen, living room, do floors (mostly mop), finish laundry, work out, bake Banana Bread, and make Kabob's for dinner. I've been applying to jobs left and right, but nothing. Grrrr.... Such is life. I bought our tickets to Hawaii for September. We'll be going Sept 9th - the 17th. My sister Rose and her husband, Chris, will be going with us. He is retired Army so we are going to see if he has any pull for the cabins on the beach. Haley is to junior. My hubby is starting to train for his shooting competitions. He does IPSC (International Pistol ...something of other). So he's practicing two nights a week at the range and the other nights are prep, reloading, dry firer practice. So he's keeping busy which is good. Cody broke up with his girlfriend Katie, but they are still friends so no drama. Well, I should say not much. They are in High School and kids can't seem to resist creating some drama. Lol.... Cody at least isn't buying into it. Other than that, I bought me a lawn chair yesterday to start tanning. Did I mention I'm English/Irish and my red high lights, freckles and lily white skin sort of gives it away. Lol.... I don't want to suffer so I'm going to try to get a base tan. I better find me a good book cause I just can't lay there and do nothing. Never could. That's why I haven't had a great tan all these years. No patience! Lol.... Anyhow, I sure hope you are all doing well.
Mrs. B - sounds like you guys are settling in. Keep smiling and enjoying that little family of yours. =)
Do - I'm here!!!! =) What happened with the Spain trip? Any takers? Glad your son is putting in an effort. Some kids just take a little longer than others to figure it out. Gotta love em!
So DO is right, where is everyone. AJ - miss your posts. Are we sort of coming to the natural end of things? Hugs to you all. I'll check back soon to see what's cooking. =)
RSL!!!
Mary - Working out with the Marines... Nice! Are you going to be the official observer? Lol... Take pictures.
Hurley - Congrats on your son's wedding. Sorry you had to compete with Will & Kate. Lol.... I'm sure your was WAY more fun. Glad to hear you and the mailman made up. =)
Hi Ladies! I have started to write here several times lately, but things kept coming up and I'd have to stop. Today is "RELAXATION DAY." LOL... no, seriously, we are literally sitting around in our house that is FULL of unpacked boxes, sipping on a frappe from McDonalds and eating a burrito from Chipotle and watching a movie. Later we are going for a cool off in the pool and then church group tonight!
We went out and watched some of the Navy planes do some formation flying earlier today. I think they were practicing.
Anyways, life is good and I love my new home. We are hoping to stay here for several years, me get my doula certification, my husband's GI bill stuff came in today, so he will be starting school and once all that is done, we'll probably head to Texas for Bible College again and then who knows what.
Blessings to all of you!!! :)
Okay, can we say"Way To Go Navy SEALS!!!!!!" I know I'll sleep better tonight!
I'm pretty proud of our sailors right now! They'll be able to say they were serving during this important time in history. God bless them and keep them in these changing times!
