Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by coastieet on September 11, 2012 at 7:24pm: Momof5, Wal-Mart has small suitcases with wheels that would serve for a few days of clothes & would be a 'carry-on' & the cost (here) was about $35. A purse is not a carry-on and can be carried in addition to the bag = no cost to check a bag! Be sure to read about cosmetics, liquids & medications if you do this. Being former military, I learned to travel as light as possible -- just to make things easier. Electronics & your 1 ounce bag will have to be removed w/shoes at security check-in, but one that's done - you're in. Good Luck!

Comment by maboltship on September 11, 2012 at 7:24pm: Our call came in on my phone while at my youngest sons soccer game. I held my phone the whole time. I could see the call, but couldn't connect. I ran like a crazy person towards the school, away from the field. I had both my husbands phone and my phone. My new Sailor called four times until I could finally hear his voice. Boy, was that stressful. I almost cried. So glad he kept trying! He sounded great! I'm so happy:)

If you do, leave in the answering machine message for him to call it? If you don't...get the phone number for your hotel and your room number and leave that on your machine for him to call?

As far as bags, you would be amazed at what people manage to call a carry-on! They do have a metal basket at check-in that your carry-on has to fit in to be a carry-on. You can also have one personal item(like a purse) besides that. I often take my computer bag as my "purse" since it fits under the seat. Then I can have all my electronics in my posession at all times.

I really hope that doesn't happen (I want this call so badly), but I did put a greeting on just for him. If anyone else calls they will get the same message directed just for him....oh well. I am praying that I will be safely on the ground before the calls start coming in.
