Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi Everyone! My son is in  Ship 11 div 297. Even though we don't know one another, it's very possible that our kids can be in the process of forming life long relationships with one another. How cool!

I guess it's time to see ship-11, the USS Kearsarge...

* I meant to say I got the phone call for his friends' addresses from my son this morning!

Stephanie and Doms_Mommy: my son is on Ship 11 Div. 297, as well. Received the form letter on Saturday, AND a phone call for phone numbers/addresses of his friends for references. Got to talk longer than I expected. It was heavenly to be able to hear his voice! He said they are thinking they will get mail this Saturday (Aug. 9) and may even get to make their first "you can talk to your family now" phone call home then, as well!

Good Morning!

Feel better, Lala!

To add to ellen's post below, you will not get a copy of the updated guest list so like ellen said, be sure to confirm with your SR who is coming for PIR.  It is best to send names as they appear on their govt-issued ID since that is what the guests will use to get onto RTC.  Nicknames on the guest list could cause issues at the gate, so best to submit the name just as it is listed on the ID.

Thanks so much, she is such a sweet puppy :) Good morning everyone. I had a virus a few days ago and thought it was a 24 hour bug and now I think I have it again uggggg I hate feeling sick :(

Comment by ellen0502 on August 5, 2014 at 3:22am

If the guest names on the form letter are incorrect, no worries! Your SRs will be submitting their final guest list in the last two weeks of BC. Make sure you let them know who will be coming.
