~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

izzyuo928 Welcome! My son is also 13/403!
Only your SRs can tell you their rate. They meet with a classifier during bootcamp and will have more info after that.
Also, for those who entered Bootcamp as E-1's or E-2's, they will have a chance to be promoted during bootcamp. The highest they can reach is E-3....during bootcamp.
bhbqxe: Try to book your return on Sunday just in case your SR stays longer. Now, if your sailor will stay in GL for A School, plan your return for late Sunday night or Monday if you can...because your sailors will have daytime liberty throughout the weekend if staying in GL for A School.
Welcome to the site, jzzylo. Glad you found us. The best way to learn about the site is just to experiment. Check out the tabs up top....and visit different groups. Know that your "personal" info will be at the top and to the right on this page, under your screen name. You will see notifications from people there who may be trying to friend request you so they can message you, and once you accept their request, you will then watch for messages in that same section.
I flubbed up alot when I first got on this site back in 2009. I found by just trying to navigate on it and practicing, I learned alot! On your MY PAGE, you will find a comment section at the bottom where people may comment to you every now and then. Just hit the "comment back" prompt under their post...that takes you to that person's page where you can comment back!
bbqxe: I agree with Navymomx2. There is no place online that will list the SR/sailor's name and departure info. I have a feeling that someone on FB may have put something together for their private groups...by talking to their SRs and getting the info. But usually the SRs won't have exact departure info until shortly before PIR.
Swansont: No, doubtful that the form letter lists your SR's rate (pay grade + job in the Navy).
izzyuo928 - Welcome! My son is also Ship 13, Div 403! :)
I agree, no idea who would have said you can look that info up. They must have misunderstood something to think that was possible. We do recommend you stay until Sunday just in case you get that extra time. If they leave on Saturday then you can do some site seeing or if you drove and travel is flexible then you can check out Saturday morning and drive home after you see him/her off at the airport.
Swansont, their rate/job would not be on the form letter. It would be on the paperwork they signed when they joined. Did your recruit say what he/she would be doing as far as what his/her job would be for the Navy? Construction/Seabee, Aviation, Corpsman/medical, IT/computer, and lots of others. I'm not sure if the recruiter would tell yo that but you could ask your recruit in your next letter :)
I am a new member trying to learn more about this site and the Navy in general. Just found out my nephew is Ship 13, Div 403.
bhbqxe: I don't know about a place online that gives this information. Nothing is set in stone as far as day after, two days after PIR, etc. It all comes down to when their orders come in. We went through this in July when our son PIRd. We booked our stay until Sunday in hope that he would have that time with us, it was the holiday weekend (4th was Thursday). PIR was Wednesday, and I thought "for sure, they will give the recruits the 4th of July off"...(insert exasperation noise here". Well, none of the HMs received their orders until 4:30 on 7/2, he PIRd 7/3 and transferred to A school 7/4 at 1p.m. So we ended up leaving two days sooner than planned.
This time around, PIR will be Friday, we are planning on staying until Saturday, and will stay longer IF by some chance she doesn't fly to Texas the next day.
If you fly, try to fly Southwest, as you can change flights pretty easily. Hotels are pretty accommodating to change your stay, but remember if you book via Hotwire, Hotels.com, etc., it's prepaid and if you shorten your stay, you will not get a discount.
Hope this is helpful!
Good Morning!!

for good to those who are called according to His purpose."
