For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

You need a parking pass to be able to park on base so don't forget that. There was a password and other details in the form letter you received several weeks ago. Yes we can meet our Sailors at the airport and spend some more time with them. Yopu can also give her a few things like her cell phone, iPod, laptop, etc. Those things have to wait until the airport because she will not be allowed to bring them on base when she returns Friday night. She will be able to get you a gate pass so you can go through security with her and hang out until her flight leaves if you are able. She will need your ID to get it when you get there so have it handy. One common request is our new Sailors want their own underwear again, they can't wait to get out of the "tighty whities" and "granny panties" so bring her some of her own and bras too :)

Comment by nancy611 on November 3, 2013 at 10:42pm: 2 min call from my SAILOR tonight- 424- just making sure I had passcode for the gate and where he would be so he could tell me where to sit!! We made arrangements to meet afterwards. He sounds so "adult". can't wait to squeeze him!!

Said that his div 429 has won many flags and if they score a 4.7 tomorrow on inspection they will have the Hall of Fame flag earned which is the highest achievement flag they can earn!! They call themselves the Bad News Bears! Lol. He's gained 12Lbs since he first arrived at bootcamp too!! Wow!! Nothing beats hearing that voice. GOD IS GREAT!!!

There's no formal dress code, but you should be "dressy casual", like dressing for church. Your new Sailors are in their snazzy dress uniforms, so you should dress accordingly. Also, since the graduation hall is on the cold side, be sure to bring a coat. Check out the Weather Widget up above--it's showing Great Lakes is in the 50's in the daytime!

Your last letter should be mailed on Friday or Saturday of the week before PIR to make sure there are no "leftovers" that have to chase your Sailor down~~
