Marvine - so glad you got your call...such a relief to hear their voice, isn't it?

Dianne...it is great that they help each other out! My SR wrote that he had a bunk mate that was really good at all the folding and bunk making (his grandpa was in the Navy) and he taught my SR alot. He was so good they made him a section leader and moved him. My SR's new bunk mate isn't so good at the inspection stuff...so my SR is now teaching him what he learned :) But that is what alot of bc is about isn't it? Teamwork :)

keger2001 - you should be getting a call soon, I would think. Hang in there!

So proud of her, Parrot!  You will be a good veteran to help with anyone who may have a SR asmoed---always lots of questions then...so be lurking!  We hope it doesn't happen to any of them, but it always does to someone(s)....so glad you are here!

I am also joining this group so that I can be a help in anyway to all of you. My Sailor had PIR this past Friday and I could not be more proud! It was not an easy road but the support her and I both got here from the Navy Moms, girlfriends and wives was, is and always be priceless!

Ahhhh....CAnavymom.  SO sweet of him to do that!  I just love it when they help each other out like that.  I read on one group where one SR gave up his phone call so another one could call his family before time ran out.  ...sigh....

So happy for you Marvine, still waiting for our son to call..maybe soon!

Oh boy!!!  I got a phone call yesterday from my son, as well. It was nice to hear his voice.

I did send my SR a phone card...I didn't know he had bought one...so he gave one to someone who didn't have one, so they could make their call.
Comment by diannep on June 11, 2011 at 2:22pm
You all can also mail them phone cards...get the ones with at leat 500 minutes on them as they take alot of minutes just to connect.  Activate them too to save them time.

I'm sure they will be getting to call soon :) - it is nice to actually get to hear their voice! I was kind of surprised that my SR thought to buy the phone card and stationary to send letters...he's only 18 and hasn't really done much on his own...I know he is going to seem a lot more grown up when we see him in July!

Ship 04 Div 816 -- I know they can buy phone cards.  I hope my SR will do that and call when he gets the chance.  A 35 min call sounds absolutely heavenly right now...lol.
