We are also leaving tomorrow morning. We have about an 800 mile drive so we are taking 2 days to do the drive. Tonight is my son's Battle Stations so we should get the call when we are on the road tomorrow. I can't wait to see him and all the sailors!!!!!

Open Hotel Room -

Unfortunately my son is being discharged and will not get to graduate. It has been a rough time and quite a disappointment for all of us, especially him.

Due to this I have canceled our hotel reservations and wanted to put it out there in case anyone is still looking for a room or would like to change hotels. This place is about 8 miles from base but looks very nice, not right in the middle of all the hub bub. It is on a golf course and it looks like there is a lake or something in the pictures. They have a free hot breakfast every morning (which I wanted to help cut down on meal costs while there) and the rooms are called suites. Each room has small fridge, a micro and a sleeper sofa along with the bed or beds.

The room I had reserved for myself had a separate bedroom with a king bed and TV, and another room with a pull out sofa with another TV in that room & a dining room table. I also had other rooms booked for family starting on June 30th staying to various dates. They were not all the same rooms as mine but I believe they all had the mini fridge and micro. They also have an indoor pool and a free shuttle to graduation. She also said it was an easy drive to the base. I booked here because I liked the idea of having a separate area we could sit and hang out in other than sitting on the beds always, in case my son didn't feel like going out.

The Navy graduation rate pricing for the rooms was $79 or $89, depending upon the room. The room I had was $89. Make sure to ask for the graduation rate if you do call. Here is their name, number, and website link: Midlane Hotel Suites (847) 596-8936 http://midlaneresort.com/.

~Hoppi aka Angie~ Can I bring a stroller into the ceremony? I have skimmed boot camp and this group and I haven't found any information on this yet. Thank you for your assistance.

Also anyone have experience in the area on fun things to do with little children? I have found so far info on the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Naval Base. I just don't know what to expect from my soon to-be-Sailor (no Sailor call yet)
~he may just want to sleep and watch movies.
