Hi Angie, my son has stress fractures in both legs and has been in this division for about 2 weeks now. From what I understand, depending on how far along they were in their former division, that will determine if they can graduate right from RCU. My son was supposed to graduate this Friday (3/2) and he told me there is a possibility he'll graduate right from RCU, but it depends on what he accomplishes while he's in there. But, yes, I believe it is true, if they graduate right from RCU and don't go back to a division, they will not participate in graduation ceremonies. Hope this helps!
My daughter just called with a stress fracture... origional PIR 3/16 - so will she get to actually graduate - I read a couple of other post that they didn't get a graduation, they just finished and went to A school.
I once called for a very serious, somber emergency meeting at an assisted living facility with the county ombudsman, a clinical psychologist, and several members from the dept. of aging to discuss a very urgent matter. And mind you, it was at my insistence.... as soon as we all got our seats, my phone rang from within my bra! I grabbed my phone, JUMPED out of my seat and lept out of the room b/c I saw it was the Great Lakes area code. Sat outside talking to my son during the whole meeting. It was SO embarrasing. You can't even imagine. But hey, my boy comes first!!!! ( just thought I'd share)
What great news right before Christmas!!! That is awesome CoastalKat. Congrats to you and your SR!!!!
I finally got "the call" last night from my recruit. He is a sailor. My only suggestion to you moms, etc. is to write your SR every day. Be upbeat. Send cartoons, jokes, scriptures. I kept my SR up-to-date on all sports other than golf. His dad filled him in on golf.
My SR was to PIR 10/28. He fractured his leg & was sent to RCU 10/12. He was in there two months.
Don't expect a phone call every week; they don't always get them. Hopefully, your SR will get a job. That will help the time pass. Just keep the letters going & before you know it, they'll be completing Battlestations & getting their cap.
Monchita- I know how you feel. I was crushed to hear the news. And we only had a minute on the phone. Seems stress fractures can be anywhere to a few weeks to 6 or 8 weeks. I've seen people post that their loved one was back in a division a week later! You just never know. My son was there 6 weeks but he was told to expect 8 weeks, so obviously his was not as bad of a break. You will get a call this weekend likely. Don't leave your phone not even for a second!! I wore mine in my bra at all times!! hahahaaaa. Sorry, had to share (I don't carry a purse). He will write you with his new address.
