Ken's Mom,
what a good idea - how can we get his address without putting it out on this website? I would send him a card cheering him on!!

Ken's Mom,
Just an idea to pass along - I can't take credit for it tho', but we had a meet and greet this morning for Ohio moms. We all brought Valentine's cards and passed them around for all to sign them. So I have a card for my son and one for my daughter signed by all the other Mom's. Some Mom's forgot to bring a card so we folded the paper placemats and signed those!!! Just to let our sailors know there are other families thinking of them also.

June, what a beautiful message!! I agree whole-heartedly.
Alexandrea, I am keeping your husband, you and your son in my prayers also. Please tell your hubby he has a ton of support behind him. I can understand (just a little) what he's going through. My son just went back in the Navy and has to leave his wife behind for the next 5 - 6 months. And their first anniversary is next month. He misses his wife!!! Yes, bootcamp is mentally tough as well as physical but we can keep sending prayers your husband's way!!! Anna

We definitely felt the quake this morning in Bremerton. True story - I woke up with a start twenty minutes earlier from a dream where my dream self was in a massive quake, and I woke myself up when it seemed like the building was about to collapse. Then, half asleep a little later, I'm woken up again to feel the last roll of the bed and hear the bed squeaking, and walls making that noise they do as I think to myself, hmmm... now THAT was interesting.

Alexandrea... your little one is just a doll! Keep those letters going! They are more precious than you can imagine! Those first weeks they really 'break the sailors down'. That way they can build them into a great team!

I went crazy after receiving my sons first letter. He was so down and homesick. The next week his letter sounded much more like the guy I knew! Writing home is a focus on what they are missing and they are the most homesick at that moment. Most of the rest of the time they are working so hard there is not time to think!

Take care of yourself and your little one!

I did not feel a thing! I was out walking the dog before leaving for work...

Linda,
I would think the chances are pretty decent. There is one carrier homeported in Bremerton, and another carrier plus a couple of other surface ships in Everett. There are only two other carriers on the west coast, both in San Diego, which I expect is more often requested. There are also quite a few other surface and amphibious ships down in San Diego. So, especially if he wants a carrier, his chances should be quite good.

Ladies, don't know how your weather is there in WA/OR, but I just shoveled 8 inches of snow away from the car. Where it drifted it was 1 foot to 18 inches.
