Hi Marie: Thank you for the welcome - I haven't figured out the Bangor part - I'll have to keep trying. Our sailor worked Chirstmas, and yesterday they celebrated Brianna's first birthday. I will be asking for prayers in January when she has her cleft pallet surgery - thanks again, Susan

My son, Adam is serving the USS Pennsylvania as a Nuke. He and his family live in Silverdale on base.

Beautiful post, Marie! Merry Christmas to you and your family - my son PIR'd earlier this month and is heading back to CT before dawn for sub school. It truly is something having our newly grownup sailors home this season.

Here's a tip we learned on the news last night. Go to Sea-Tac's website...see the right side of the homepage where it says: SeaTac Real Time Flight Information "arrivals, Departures?"
Then where it says time: from and to? just type in 8am and then 11 pm, don't type in an airline, or anything else. Make sure it says "Today" and wow...an entire schedule shows up of ALL the airlines!. They say it's like looking at the schedule boards actually at the airports! Yesterday, there were a lot of canceled flights, but today, it looks like many are landing and taking off. Good news for stranded sailors and loved ones! ( I don't know about Portland's website, but it must be similar?) You can switch between arrivals and departures too. Before, I was typing in my son's actual airline and flight number everytime...time consuming!

I have my fingers crossed that we will be home together at some point before new years! Not sure as the snow in the Northwest just keeps falling! We will celebrate Christmas whatever day we are together. I am counting my blessing that my son stranded in New York is with friends not sitting at the airport... and that Whidbey has power and my sailor is warm and fed!

my sailor still stuck on Whidbey. They cancelled his shuttle to airport where I was going to pick him up. My other son was flying in from New York. Flight from New York cancelled so my younger son is stuck in New York! No room on flights before Christmas. My sailor son has a lead on a ride tomorrow from Whidbey. Keeping my fingers crossed they get off the island before the next storm hits tomorrow evening...

I have a friend that is telling me that in 1956 they had over 50 inches of snow in the Seattle area! Don't know about you but I think we may be close! If not it surely seems so!
