Jennifer- my thoughts and prayers are with you and your son. I hope he is feeling much better very soon. It is good to hear he in good spirits and is excited to finish boot camp.
Sometimes the recruits are so worried about being set back and not having PIR on time that they don't tell anyone they are sick. They wait too long to get medicine then it takes them longer to get better. They do have stronger medications if the doctor thinks the recruit needs it. They take pretty good care of them if they know they are sick. I hope the one who is coughing up blood has been to medical to get some help. It is better to be SIQ for a few days and even possibly be delayed a week or so in graduation than to wait too long and get even sicker and end up in the hospital. I hope all those who are sick will feel much better soon and I will keep them all in my prayers.
Jimbo - so they're not allowed to give our recruits any strong meds while in BC? Is there a legal reason for that? Maybe that's why this other mom is freaking out because they're giving her son amoxicillan and she feels he needs something stronger. She's a nurse. Do you know what they can or can not give at BC as far as pain meds, etc.? I'm just very curious.
I know it's highly likely they'll all get sick with something...."recruit crud" as you call it - EWE
They are just divided into groups to train together via the brother system. 900 groups do not have brother divisions...unless there happen to be 2 900 divisions in a group (happens, but rare). 800 usually don't have them either, unless 2 are in a PIR group (again, rare).
SRs are allowed to call if their PIR date will change. If they are on track, even though sick, but still can keep up/make up time...then they most likely won't call. Some moms find out after the fact that their SRs had pneumonia, some even in the hospital briefly...
@ diannep - is there a reason there are brother divisions? Good/bad/indifferent? Just curious.
FTLW - love what you did with the site!
Question - if your recruit is sick, do they call you themselves? Do they get to call you often with their progress? I ask because a fellow mom PMd me that her son is coughing up blood and has a fever for 5 days. His PIR is 10/21 and she's just really freaking out.
Invisible/graceism: 369/370 are brother divisions so they train together.
Good morning, everyone!
