The government contracted airlines this year are United and Continental. Perhaps that makes a difference on the military fares. I was going through them when I inquired.
I was also told by two airlines that military rate tickets were sold out for the times we needed. He got his roundtrip ticked (Charleston, SC to Madison, WI) for $480 through expedia.
Jimbo....I tried to get the military rate from American and I think Delta and they both told me that they had no military rates available for the time he'll be traveling. That figures!!!! $480 from Pensacola to where? That's round-trip? That's crazy cheap!
Be sure to get MILITARY FARES when you book flights. They can be changed with no fee and are cheaper. The flight from Pensacola was $480 regularly and with the military fare, it was $380.
My son just booked his flight for the holidays also. Looking forward to having the whole family together, which will get harder and harder every year from here on out. I am going to make a point to slow down and appreciate every second of it.
How are all of your sailors doing? My son is very happy in SC, and starting brief week next week. I love that we can contact eachother anytime we want, and I especially love that he is so healthy and happy. I'm very proud of him!
Just dropping in to say hello to everybody. I miss all the craziness we had here.....well, not really all the stress that went along with it! LOL. I'm booking my son's flight today to come home for Christmas so I'm thrilled. I hope all of you will have your Sailors home for the holidays.
Thanks Jimbo! I join all of us in praying for our sailors! Hooyah!
I was looking at the temperature in Pensacola last night and was nearly the same as Chicago's...ha ha ha.
My daughter was funny at the airport. She gets self-conscious about people looking at her in her uniform...all...the...time. I told her to enjoy it while it lasts...lol!
