Good morning everyone, 17 more days, that's basically just like 2 weeks. It won't be long now until you are hugging your Sailors :-) I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Great information Jimbo! Does this mean I can meet my daughter at the gate when she comes home after A school? Thank you.

Anyone flying into Midway? You might want to read this construction notice

Just an FYI for those recruits flying out on Friday, etc...

The TSA allows family members to be at the airport with your sailor. You can't take them to O'Hare, but you can meet them there and wait at the gate with them.

Accommodations for U.S. Military Personnel

Military Family Member Gate Passes

Family members who want to accompany a military service member being deployed to the boarding gate or greet them returning from deployment at the arrival gate may receive passes to enter the secure area of the airport.

Interested military family members should contact their air carrier representative at the departure/arrival airport for proper local procedures.

In a nut shell, immediate family members are welcome to accompany you through security screening to the gate area to await the departure of your flight. In order for this to occur smoothly, please have the following items when you arrive at the airport:

  • Your military orders
  • Photo ID for each family member over the age of 18

When you arrive at the ticket counter, please ask the ticket agent for a gate pass for each of your immediate family members who will accompany you to the gate area (this includes young children). The gate pass(es) will grant them permission to pass through the TSA security screening and into the sterile area of the terminal.

At the concourse entrance, each individual over 18 years of age will need to show his/her gate pass and photo ID. (Children under age 18 need only to have a gate pass.) Everyone will have to go through the security screening process so family members will want to dress accordingly. Your family is then welcome to wait with you at the gate area for your plane to board.

Wow thanks Invisible for the great information.

You all have been a blessing.  I can't believe I had the count of days wrong and I am glad to know the correct amount of days before I see my baby girl.  I see we have a clock on this site but honestly I alway scrolled down straight to the comment wall.

Thanks Invisible for the info on sarges meet and greet. They both sound great. I cant wait till PIR! I'll go to either one but I'd prefer to go to the one where most are going to meet all of the amazing people I have met on here. 16 days and a wake up!!! :)
Comment by Invisible12 on October 23, 2011 at 6:02pm

FTLW - It sure seems that Sarge wants to do them all the time now.  Defintely call and talk to him though.
