FTLW- I also took your advice and made all my settings private and changed my profile picture. Thanks for your encouraging words as well, your experience really shows and as a newbie I need to hear the things you are saying.

MomAnt- Sorry if my post offended you, I wasn't trying to upset anyone.

What's really upsetting to me is the notion that any of our recruits are THERE but NOT taking it seriously! Why would any of the loved ones think that recruits, other than their own, would head off to boot camp to goof around??? I feel terrible for the SR's you all are talking so negatively about... because I don't think ANYONE knows what is in their heads, how hard they're trying, or how much difficulty they are having! A lot of these kids are just that (and having a rude awakening right now and NOT giving up) and a lot of you have older SR's. It would be nice if YOU encouraged your SR's to take an interest in the younger ones who are trying harder than they ever have in their lives... I thought teamwork and camaraderie were big in the Navy. I'm very disappointed in the assumptions made here.

Don't worry....the RDC's will take care of the situations...they are "theirs" now and will correct and instill discipline. Lots of others will lead by example and words. I am sure someone like your husband NavyWife10 who is older will have good words and attitude to diplay to those who want it.

This may be the first time that you will "have to suffer" but it won't be that last...there are many things about military life that "seem" unfair but that we just have to accept.  I've been a reservist wife for 27 years - two deployments, the last one just recently -, I am also a law enforcement wife for 29 years...so I definitely "get it".

Vent away...but a word of caution...the RDC's read these posts...and can easily match you up with your SR. No last names ever on this site (even if it is different we do not recommend it). This also means in your username. (If you need help changing it I can post that.) I don't advise first names or pictures of your SR as your profile pic...but that is your choice. Make the settings on your page private and then just your friends can see the pictures you post there. Private message through the messaging system here on N4M's more personal information if you need too. Never print anything or repeat something that was said in confidence to you by your SR.

General stuff like you have posted is fine. I have heard of one situation where the moms were posting that they were not happy with the div and it was reported back that the RDC's said, "Look, now you have made the moms mad at you!"

Okay DON'T go hog wild with that one though!

It'll get better...believe me!

It's really upsetting hearing about those recruits who can't behave themselves!!!    My son told me in his letter that most of the guys are pretty cool but that some couldn't tell their ass from their elbow....LOL.  Now I feel horrible for these guys who are really trying.  This was probably the first week of real training and now they had to suffer with IT.  This really does stink.....and now we have to hope and pray we get a letter this week.

My daughter in Ship 03/Div 367 was complaining in her letters about the same thing in her group - that they had received IT because the gals couldn't remain at attention at appropriate times and were talking after lights out and other inappropriate times.  She said that after/during IT a couple of the girls were crying but then talked again that night.  Ugh.

drleeper- very upsetting news. I guess that means we won't be getting letters this week. My husband is in his mid-twenties, a man who gave up a career to become a part of the U.S. Navy, a long time dream of his. I am positive he was not one disobeying the rules and that makes me angry because now I as his wife have to suffer. I'm sorry for venting, I just don't understand why there are people who have to ruin it for everyone. I really hope Ship12 Div369 gets their stuff together. I will be praying for them!

The divisions usually start to pull together real well about midway through. Marlinspike seems to be an eye opener for the divisions that need to find out just how important teamwork is. Unfortunately, some won't...talking seems to be the biggest issue...

It sounds like this group is in need of some letters for sure. Hopefully this will be a very good week for letters. Most people get them on Wednesdays or Thursdays but they can come any day. It really depends on where you live. I'm in NC and our letter day was always Thursday. Good luck to all of you do the mailman stalking letter dance :-)
