Time... Helps

Received my second letter yesterday.  Andrew's letter was funny!  He sounded  happy,  back to his usual self.  He said that the first two weeks had been hard on him since he questions himself often, and was worried was he doing everything good enough.

It is true what they say about time.  Time has a way of helping us to work things out and make peace with ourselves as well as others.  Well it's been 4 weeks and 2 days and the time that has passed helped Andrew to be more confident in…

The final decision....

Well, today my son decided what he will do for sure. He has been very wishy washy on what he wanted to do as far as college and the NROTC scholarship., and bootcamp. Today we went to The Citadel for his Pre-Knob visit, he stayed all of 45 minutes and had them bring him to me. He looks me in the eye and says to me "Mom I am not ready for college, I want to go into the Navy first and see what I can do. I promise I will return in the future and become a Citadel grad one way or another, but…

Waiting to find out....

Tonight we wait and see. I just found out that my son's date to leave for basic may be moved from June 6 to next week. Some initial tears on my part, but trying  not to cry any. We have some fun things planned already this weekend, which will make a nice weekend for him. If it happens, then he will go for an overnight visit to his grandparents.

My Son Left for Boot-camp on April 10th, from Sacramento and I'm Lost...

My son left for BC on 4/10(2 days ago) and I still cant seem to find any comfort. I miss him like crazy, and am still crying when I think of him. I keep going to his room just to see if I can feel his presents,

When people try to console me I just walk away. Everything they say makes me cry harder.. How do I make this feeling go away? I feel like I have abandoned him, and I just want my baby back.  I feel physically sick to my stomach, and Alone. I know I'm not alone, my 13 year old…

At Ease...

Talked to my sailor today and he let me knw he made it to his ship safe and sound. I was so relieved to hear from him. Its crazy because the day he flew out to his ship, i was stressed and anxious the whole day and i had somewhat of an anxiety attack. i couldnt focus in class so i left early, my mind was just wondering with thoughts of him( is he ok,safe, etc). i cried for a very lng time. but im starting to feel much better because i knw he's alright.

Getting the hang of doing things - the Navy way.

Recently, a mom wrote expressing her frustration regarding members of her daughter's division who were uncooperative and as a result, the entire division had to suffer the consequences. That blog has been deleted. I would like to offer just a bit of advice to everyone with a loved one going through boot camp. ___________________________________________________________________________________________

Making the days before he leaves count

Tonight my future sailor and I had a good ole fashion Mom and Me night out. We went to our favorite mexican restuarant and ate way too much food and drank way to much sweet tea and talked and talked. He even turned off his cell phone during the meal so he wasn't distracted (without me asking him to) . It made my day. My son and I have always been very close and talk about everything from his classes to his girlfriend and even politics. As I sat there tonight eating salsa and chips and…

Loved Hearing My SR's Voice Yesterday

I loved loved hearing from my SR yesterday.  She sounded very upbeat.  Not one complaint.  And this kid is the complaining type, trust.  She was laughing and just very happy to hear my voice.  She had to talk fast cause she didnt have long. At the end of the call I could tell she was tearing up and voice cracking but she was still so excited to talk to us. The girls do sound like they are really becoming a team up there. They are laughing at us moms/family members out here finding each other…
