This may be silly but is the ceremony a semi-formal? Can I wear a knee length dress and my husband a golf shirt and slacks?

Hello everyone! I am new to this and I don't know where to start.  My sailor graduates May 8,2015 and I ave no idea where to go or what is needed for the trip. Do I take the cell phone or will I have to mail it once my sailor starts A school?? How much time do we have with our kids? Do they leave shortly after they graduate?

Good morning everyone!  My daughter is coming up on three years in the US Navy and every day, she expresses her commitment and her pride.  She says that this is the best decision that she has ever made.  It's been tough - she is stationed in Hawaii - 15 hour flight each way and is currently deployed.

I have read some of the other posts on this blog and I understand and sympathize with the other Moms who are just getting ready to start this journey - we are part of this journey!  What…

New to all this

My oldest son done all this stuff this week at meps and signed his papers.  He will be leaving out for bootcamp the end of October.  Trying to learn all this and get use to all of this.  I have a little over 6 months of him being home with us before he leaves out.  I am proud of him and glad he is doing something like this but at the same time being a mom I am worried about him.

Newbie

CLUELESS Wife/new mommy here! My husband has decided to become a navy man. We are still early in the process (he has yet to take his real ASVAB). I would love to know when I should expect him to leave for basic, what's A school like (will I be with him), what it will be like on a base for myself and my daughter, how long will we be there and how many times will we move, the questions are endless! I would be so grateful for any stories/advice/ encouragement you ladies can give! Thanks so much!

It's Offfical

My son swore into the Naval reserves yesterday, has his first DEP meeting on Saturday.  He will swear in to active duty and ship out on November 23rd.  I am so proud of him I could burst, but I am also so sad that he won't be home for the holidays.  I know we have 7 months until he leaves, and I am going to make much of this time, and enjoy seeing him go to prom and graduate from high school.  I will learn how to deal with him being gone I know.  Just at this moment in time I am already so…

From graduation to A-School in GL?

Okay, so my husband is going from RTC to A-School which is still at Great Lakes. Does he get ANY time off after graduation to come stay the night with me? Or come spend the day with me and our daughter? I am kinda missing him a heck ton. He is going to Great Lakes for MM (machinist mate).

Just an update from my last post: We are about a week in and it seems to be getting better but I miss him so much!! Does anyone have significant…

He's On His Way, And in the Hands of God and the U. S. Navy

I'm not sure it is real to my future sailor even yet, since he won't arrive at the actual boot camp site until at least tomorrow, but it sure is real to me.  Leaving him at the hotel was definitely bittersweet; but to be able to witness both the recruiter's confidence in him and his quiet assurance of this new direction was really uplifting.

Some friends thought it was 'too bad' that he had to leave on Easter weekend.  Though appreciating their support, from my end it seemed…

Graduation

I know that only "4" people are permitted to go to graduation and anyone under age 2, however someone told me others can go they just can't go in where everyone else goes. Something abut a separate area to watch graduation on big screens. Any help with this question is helpful. Thank you.
