I got another call from my son today. It was so good to hear his voice again. He sounds better with every call. I can hear his maturity growing with each call. He's doing so well physically and academically. He has aced the entire written test and he was able to run a really good time on his PT test, He actually came in second and was ahead of two kids that are going in as Navy Seals. They couldn't believe it. They had no idea that he ran hundreds/thousands of miles during his high…

On July 1, 2013 our daughter left for Milwaukee with her friend Bri. Yep, h.s. buds joined the Navy together and actually got the same bc date!
We met at the local recruiting office. There were friends & family. Recruiter POP arrived and we all started talking & laughing - trying not to cry. We took pictures and met Bri's family. So…

Just got approved to join this site, so happy. My son Evan went to boot camp on 6-20-13 and his graduation date is 8-16-13. Anyone else's child arrived and graduation the same date?
I missed his call on saturday but he left me a voicemail, I cried when I heard it, he is so homesick but he did say the training is going well.

I was so happy to get a another call today. He's sick but good. He is growing and maturing. His leadership skills are coming out. We knew his eyes are not 20/20 but not bad and he has had an option to wear glasses for a couple of years and chose not to. I guess when they tested him again when he got to GL he decided to take the glasses. He's amazed at how much better he can see. lol I'm glad he's wearing them everyday now. The things that it takes to get our kids to do what they…

Received a call from my daughter today. She was crying and very homesick, which in turn made me cry. I know she will be ok but it's hard to listen and not be able to give her a hug. Only 6 weeks till PIR and I told her we had made our reservations so she felt better knowing we would be there soon.

WOW!!!!!! I can't believe it. My son left for boot camp 1 year ago on July 2. Just saying that brings back all the emotions and memories of that day....seeing him sworn in, leaving him with his recruiter the day before, knowing we would not see him for 8 long weeks, worrying that something would come up and we would not be able to make that trip, knowing he would do fine but still worrying about my baby boy, and the…

My son scored a 90 on his exam. Was inquiring about the nuke program because he scored high enough for that. Well, when we were at MEPS there were 10 forms that were not filled out and one form that took so long that he was not able to swear in... Shouldn't this have been done prior to MEPS? .Wouldn't this be the recruiters fault????? .My husband and I had traveled 2 hours and took off work, his siblings and fiance had taken off work as well to be there. He was suppose to get a call…

Hi. My son has been in Japan for 3 years, and recently received orders for Littlecreek, Virginia. He is to report there 7-15. Well, yesterday we found out his ship has had a homeport change and now he will be stationed in Bahrain. Devastated is all I can say. Him and us. His orders did not say anything about homeport change. Bad timing I guess? Anyway, does this just happen? He really wanted to be in the states. :(
Thanks
Sherri

I just wrote my son a great support letter to put in his wallet when he leaves for boot camp. I'm going to put it in as he is leaving and tell him to read it when he needs some support. Today at the 4th of July fireworks my son went up to say hi to the band that was playing and to request a song. And the band asked him if he was in the military. He has that look...wears a high and tight hair cut, and is pretty good body build, and I think the way he dresses gives him away because he is…
