July 2011 Blog Posts (151)

This is all still new to me.

My son has beenmeeting with his recruiter for a few months. I just met him yesterday and signed the papers that will allow Blake to do the DEP, and take his ASVAB when he turns 17. Now he tells me he can take the test one day and do MEPS the next.

All I can think now is, what have I done?

Need help for Son Military to Civilian Conversion Letter

It has been a very long time since we communicated. A lot happened since then---some very upsetting. My Seabee Son, Jarod hit an IED while driving his MRAP in Afghanistan. He was injured but thank God alive. Anyway, he returned home and is going through a lot of therapy both physical and mental. He is applying for some Federal jobs that are available around his area where he lives. What I need to ask is where can he get…

Ship 07 div. 245

Anyone get any mail saying what or how our group is doing. Last letter I got my daughter didn't have much to say about BC just wanted to let me kow she was ok and that her mail hadn't caught up with her yet from anyone. I don't understand that. But we did get the wrong address from her BF and so all her mail went to that address first I guess. I am hoping that I hear from her this week. A call would be great but a letter will do. Tomorrow is her 21st b'day. And I miss her so much. I can't wait… Continue

Full Time Support > choosing A-School/Duty Station out of boot camp??????

My son signed into the FTS program because "active duty" jobs were not available at the time. He spent almost 2 years getting weight off and med waivers to be accepted, and was just tired of waiting. He wanted in and wanted in now. He left for boot camp Thursday July 7th.I was wondering if he'll be able to request/choose an A-school in boot camp, then a duty station after he is through. We are still learning about FTS program, though we support him 100% even though he's not "active". We've…

waiting

Well....it's been a little over 3 months since Logan took his oath...he is supposed to leave Dec.15th for a hospital corpsman position...but just last week, Logan decided he is tired of waiting around, so he spoke with his recruiter, and he is now on a list to possibly leave sooner (if a job becomes available)...I can see where he is coming from...but that doesnt make his leaving any easier...in fact this is worse...I may have NO TIME to prepare when it actually happens now...as from what i…

A School & Getting married

My boyfriend & I have really been talking a lot about getting married even before he left for basic. He graduates basic on august 5th then goes to Pensacola, Florida. We want to get married sometime while he's in A school. Just dont know when yet because of the busy military schedule and stuff. But when we do get married does anyone think that they will let us live together during A school? & On Base or Off? Is their a certain amount of time we have to be married before a deadline or… Continue

My baby left today

Today, my youngest, left for bootcamp.  This was the hardest thing Ive had to do, let go of my baby.  It was hard when my middle son left for the Navy and I miss him a great deal, but letting the youngest go is even harder.  Even though I still have a 22 year old son still around, there is still an "empty nest" to come home to.  I am so proud of my boys......I cant wait for PIR in September.   My middle son will be flying in to go to Great Lakes with us to see his little brother graduate from… Continue

A Little Nervous..

Hi everyone. I'm totally new to this. My son is in the DEPs program and is scheduled to leave on the 19th of July. Eight more days! It has been a bit of an emotional ride, but I am so grateful to be able to read some of your thoughts and suggestions. I especially appreciated the one mom who's son chimed in with Boot Camp tips,..how to survive it, etc. How thoughtful and practical! I shared all the good info with my son. It's good to know I'm not alone in some of my concerns. Right now, we're… Continue

Not going to VA cuz we're over :(

Well he called it off...I'm so upset right now...but at the sametime I understand. I just can't believe he left me. He would ahve never left if he didn't leave for the fucking Navy...sorry. I never say things like that but I lost someone who I've known for years and who I love so much...it's not fair...but nothings fair in life. I wanted to try and make things work...but it was too much for him. The Navy changed who he was...he is a better man and I love everything thing about him...but the one… Continue

The Party's Over

Last night was Aaron's pre-boot camp bash. We had a great time. He had tons of friends and family come to wish him well. There was food, music, and good times. I left a pad of paper and pens out for guests to write him notes. During boot camp, I will mail one note each day, along with my hundreds. I think he will get a kick out of reading them.

I'm feeling really melancholy today. Two of Aaron's really good friends spent the night last night. Before they left this morning, I…

BLOG OPS” PIR 05/26/2011 Mission 5: PIR!

Finally!

We make our way to Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall.

Of course I FORGOT to have my camera ready…so I am advising you to get that baby ready from the moment you step through those doors. There ARE photo ops (or should that be PHOTOPS?) all along the way to that security checkpoint.

So don’t miss it like I did!

When you enter the actual graduation grounds you will see Sailors and some SR (the ones performing for the PIR) all over.

Good luck trying to…
