DAY 2

Today is day 2 that Brandon left for basic training.  It is really a hard adjustment at home.  We were blessed that my father in law is a comissioned retired Naval Capt. and got to do his swearing in.  That was bittersweet, I lost my father 4 weeks ago.... hard sad times.  I cannot wait for my hugs in OCT.  for now, just a sad mom!!!

GIFTS AT PIR??

I thought i read somewhere that as much as you want to give your Sailor a gift they cannot take back with them, can anyone who has "been there, done that", confirm that and at what point can they take a gift that you bought for them...any input would be great!  THANKS!

Graduation next week!

Hi

I am going to my son's graduation next Friday. He called today saying that he passed his final exam. I could not stop smiling at the phone!

I am so happy, proud and excited to see him in his uniform. I am not familiar with the area and I wish to have lunch in a nice restaurant close by, not too expensive but cozy and relaxed. I would really appreciate some suggestions.

Thank you

Maros

The first week...or so...

For some reason, the week Justin left for boot camp was destined to be miserable. We returned Sunday night from a weekend working at my mother-in-law's house. It was great because we all got to be together. It was not-so-great because we were not able to be in church together. In retrospect, I should have insisted.

Monday night, we had dinner with my parents. Justin wanted steak...so we had steak. I made two kinds of cheesecake (also his favorite). It was a really nice…

Son on LD since start

Got a call from my son, he is on LD. He has not been able to do much since he got to Basic. I am a little confused as he got the medical waiver needed prior to signing his contract. I am not sure if he will be able to graduate with the rest of his divison as he won't be seen for almost another 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any insight.

Just left to Bootcamp

My BooBear is flying to bootcamp right now. Having that hug and kiss meant the world to me. Couldn't help but cry my eyes out. That's my future hubby its all worth it. I know what to expect and everything its just really emotional to see my best friend of 14 years go off to something big. I know he will do well he's mentally and physically ready. I can't wait until he gets stationed and takes me with him like he says. It's hard to be away from.him, but this is the sacrafice we have to make for… Continue

Sick future sailor!

My son is a little over half way thru boot camp and wrote to say that he has pneumonia! Obviously I am worried sbout his health but I am also concerned about his dream of being a sailor being shattered by this illness. Has anybody else's son or daughter gotten so sick that they were put to bed for a few days? What happens from here? He says he's being put back into light duty whatever that means. His division is headed into hell week and then battle stations, as I understand it.

Unequal Trying?

Well he sent me the love letters in bootcamp. He made it real. Now he's in A school and things are more different than I had imagined. I know he has the skype capabilities. I know he has his phone. The issue is that he chooses not to use these things. I've sent him 2 care packages now, today a pie in the mail with other things. Last weekend was my birthday, I got a 5 minute phonecall on sunday. I'm trying to be understanding. I know he is busy. But when I see his navy female coworkers…

Just left town my

My boyfriend just left town to go and check in and do everything else that needs to be taken care of at meps then tomorrow the first "see you later, I love you" of the military life. Hugging him bye each time we depart kills me so bad I hate to see him go, but its all worth it. This is for us.

So his recruiter just picked him up and as soon as I got that hug I bursted into tears and as soon as he walked away I turned straight into his grandmas arms and we both cried as we watched them… Continue

Silent Service

Let me first start off with saying that I am so proud of my son.  I may not know all of the Navy jargen but I do know that he is a MM 2nd Class and a Nuke.  He was also made one of the youngest shift supervisors ever for a sub.  With all of that being said I miss him.  I know they call submarine duty "Silent Service" with the emphasis on silent.  It can be so difficult sometimes not knowing where he is or what he's doing.  He just drops off the face of the earth and shows back up again.  I…
