I received my 1st call from bootcamp & it was not what I was expecting. He was calling to inform me that he was in the hospital with a sprained ankle. At that point him nor I knew what was going to happen. I then received a 2 minute call yesterday from him stating that he was on a 30 day hold, would not be graduating with his division & would have to wait to be placed in another. He said he would try to inform me of a later graduating date. Does this mean he will be doing an extra 30…

Hi. My son is going to boot camp on 2/25/13. I had a few questions, some dumb, some not so dumb. First, after boot camp, they are moved to different barracks for the duration of their A school training, correct? During boot camp lights out at 10 p.m. and lights on at 3:30 a.m.?? But after the 8 weeks of grueling work, they won't have to have that same schedule of getting up at 3:30 a.m., correct? My son is studying to be a hull technician. So after his schooling he will be assigned to…

Hey, everyone!!!!!! Keep an eye on the RTC on Facebook as they post random pictures of the recruits every couple of weeks. I saw my son in uniform marching the other day and it was just the medicine I needed for my sick heart. Please keep posting on the site as it is truly our only haven during this storm. It is the closest thing to be being with them as we can get at this point. Good luck to all and your SRs!!!!

what are the best motels there
Hi, everyone! Glad to be joining you as the mom of a future sailor! This is my second time around, as another son joined the Marines last year.
Let me apologize in advance - I'm certain the answers to these questions can be found somewhere in the many postings here, but I simply don't have the time (or patience) to go back through them all!
There seems to be chatter about delivering cell phones to graduating sailors and about the necessity for a laptop? Can someone fill me…

My daughter leaves for boot camp next week. We are trying to get all of her paperwork in order. Could someone please tell me the correct direct deposit form she will need? I have been searching online and have gotten several different forms. Standard Form 1199A and one that says FASTSTART on the top for federal employees net salary form. We are going with a local bank close to home to start with and figured if later on in her military career she wanted to go with the military bank she would…
