Almost missed him...

My phone is conspiring against me.  I'm sitting at my kitchen table cuz I know he's going to call. I normally get a great signal at the table.  The phone never rang, until his dad called me and told me he was tried to call and it went straight to voice mail!! EEK!  Dad had him call me again and I got to have a nice long conversation with my SAILOR!  It made my day.  He's going to call again on Sunday when he land in Florida.  (Guess we didn't so bad when we raised this one-LOL As you… Continue

The Beginning

I never thought i would find the man of my dreams so early in life, but here i am almost 18 and engaged. When he told me he was enlisted and would be leaving in October i told him there was no way i would start a relationship with him. But now here i am waiting, for what seems like an eternity, to see him in his uniform at graduation.…

The Box has arrived

I received "the box" yesterday.  It is amazing how great it is to receive a box with dirty clothes and smelly shoes in it.  For once I was happy to smell those aroma's. I hurriedly searched the pockets of everything, but nothing. Dalton's girlfriend was able to get his address from the recruiter. We both have already dropped letters in the mail.  Now just waiting on the form letter. I finally have slept six hours in the same night without waking up and crying.  Being a single parent all those… Continue

Feelin' Stronger Every Day!

My son left for GL last week to start his 8 weeks of BC.  I've been feelin' really down because I miss him so much.  He was my son and my best bud.  Today I was driving down the road and the song "Feeling Stronger Every Day" by Chicago came on the radio - yeah I listen to the classics :-)     It amazed me how much these lyrics fit our situation.  Anyway - this song made me feel great and I am sending you a link to listen to it.

I GOT THE LETTER!!!!

I was so excited when we got the letter!  I cannot wait to get to graduation.  I can't wait to see my son.  I did cry when I read the letter.  He is fine and says things are getting better.  He misses us and misses his sisters. It was short.  I called my mom and read her the letter.  She couldn't understand me, I was crying to hard. I was sad and happy at the same time.  I miss him!  We all wrote him already and I'm printing pictures.

Oct 11 2011

I'm amazed by how much I miss my son... Even though there have been lots of letters back and forth, it's not the same as seeing him everyday.  A year in DEP changed him a lot, can't wait to see how basic training has changed him.

So far, I've missed both phones calls from him.  They've been on Saturdays that I'm at work.  The last time he tried to call me on my cell, but because I don't answer my cell phone at work, I missed it.  I haven't talked to him since the day he left.  :-( …

Finally - "Box" arrived - safe, smelly and sound :)

Well, the day arrived...the one I've read about, looked forward to, and yes, even dreaded.  My oldest son called me at work to let me know that there was a box from my youngest son.  He told me he put it in the living room and asked me if I wanted him there when I opened it, "in case I freaked out".  I laughed and told him no, I would be fine.  And then the craziness in my head started LOL  Would I be happy, like so many mom's have been...would I be sad, also like so many mom's have…

Life after boot camp

We know that it is hard for all you navy moms whose sons and daughters are headed to or already in Boot Camp!  And of course after they have graduated, they will be transferring to a school's command somewhere else in the country.  The most important thing you can do for them, besides staying in communication with them, is to pray for them.  It's not always easy for them to be far from home either.  That's where we come in.  If any of your sons or daughters transfer to Virginia…

Three weeks of no contact? Really?

My son arrived last Thursday at Great Lakes for boot camp.  That night about 8:30PM I received his last phone call and it broke my heart.  He sounded so defeated and distant, my imagination ran away with me.  What could he possibly have gone through in the last several hours that changed him so much?  When he left he was so excited and looking forward to everything and then he just sounded so despondent.  I know he was reading some script but WHAT HAPPENED? My son is an emotional rock and…

Thank you JESUS!!! I got my first phone call last night!!!

It was bittersweet to say the least.. I answered the phone and my baby was on the other end..."Hello Mama"  My heart just sank... a huge knot swelled up in my throat and I could hardly speak.  He sounded exhausted and rightly so..said that he just came off watch and they don't get but about five hours of sleep a night.. he said he was doing well...passing all of the tests and inspections with perfect scores... I heard his voice crack and then he started to cry under his breath...I then asked…

A long weekend

First weekend without my son - it was a tough one.  Especially Sunday - our family is all part of a fantasy football league and Sunday's were busy and loud at our house as we all watched the games, to see how our teams did and how we all did against each other.  It was so quiet at home this weekend.  His brother and sister were gone this weekend so there was no one around to watch the games with me.   Did some cleaning, some organizing - laundry - the usual.

Didn't…

Waiting for the "offical" letter

It has been one week since I dropped off my daughter at the hotel in Nashville.  The last conversation I had with her was," Is everything okay?" She answered "no."  And that is when my heart sank! Please let the Mail God deliver a piece of paper with her handwriting on it this week! Her recruiter has informed me that she is 07/009.  I would REALLY like to know the date of her PIR.  It could be Nov 23 or Dec 2.  Before Thanksgiving or after.... No matter which one, it will be a Thanksgiving to… Continue

Still Waiting

It's been over  a month now and still have not heard anything back about my son's medical waiver.  He was asked at MEPS if he'd seen a chiropractor.  He answered honestly and said yes.  Only for bad posture/basketball.  Wasn't referred by GP or anything.  Covered by health insurance - so I said sure go ahead.  Needed file and letter from chiropractor faxed to them that he wasn't seeing him for an injury, they were faxed the day he came home from MEPS!  I can not figure out why this is taking so… Continue

Mom's Day Out!

My daughter is highly involved in with horses and shows them in 4-H and we volunteer at the stables as much as possible. To take the family's focus off of my son, we volunteered to help with lead rides for a 6 year old little girl's birthday party. Everything went great!

We've been there alot over the past 7 months and became good friends with the owner. We were in her office and she stopped mid-sentence and asked "Do you have any office experience?" I just looked at her and smiled a…
