October 2012 Blog Posts (94)

Stepson has been gone a week now.

My stepson left for boot camp on October 2. I was a little sad but mostly excited for him and proud. I think he was ready and I feel the Navy is a good place for him.

Just got his address today-- he is in Ship -03-Div-021. It would be cool to talk to Moms that have children in boot camp and would be awesome if someone else here has a child in the same division. I am not sure my stepson will write but I hope he will.

My Son leaves for Boot Camp in 2 wks

My son Chase leaves for Bootcamp on October 25th 2012 and I was wondering if anybody else's child leaves on that day.  He was scheduled to leave on October 30th 2012 but was moved up.  As the days get closer it becomes harder to know that soon I wont be able to see him for awhile.  I am so proud of his decision to join the Navy but can't help feeling that I don't want to let him go.

THU temporary holding unit support needed!!!! 10-9-12 anyone else have their loved one stuck in THU??

My son is stuck for almost 5 weeks in the THU and we are just hoping and praying the Navy doesn't need 6 months to send him on to A school. They haven't a clue how hard this is on an 18 yr old kid and his family! Frustrating doesn't describe it. Wish they could at least give us an idea when the waiver will be approved or not. My son is being so strong but is also wondering when he will get to move on already!!! Anyone else in the same boat. He tells me there are several waiting with him.

PIR November 16th!

Just got my first letter this weekend but no phone call other than the "I'm here and safe" call. My daughter's letter sounds like she is doing ok, but I want a phone call. She is in Division 003, ship 09.

Time...and God's will...

On July 31, I knew that September 28 was a lifetime away. That first week with Justin gone to Great Lakes was a nightmare of no information from him, strange medical emergencies here at home, and the most unimaginable fear of unknown boot camp dread. I hope someday to be a support for those enduring that, because...wow.

I had senseless, unfounded (I hope) worries about what was being done to him and what his reaction would be. In a way, I believe I may have felt worse pain than he…

Waiting.....

My son leaves in December. I have read some of your posts. Some have made me happy and some have scared me. Others helped me a lot so I can tell him what to do or look for. Was wondering where he might get stationed? Sounds like he needs to choose a squadron. Also sounds like he may be on land some, but primarily at sea. The recruiting so he can stay here a little longer sounds good too. A-school sounds like a pain but he'll get through it. I'm scared and nervous now. You want to baby them… Continue

Does it ever get better????

So my oldest child, and only daughter, joined the Navy straight after high school graduation. She was on the delayed entry program and left for boot camp on May 8th 2012. She made the 900th division and had a rifle solo at graduation!! Then it was off to San Antonio the very next morning for her corpsman school. Bootcamp was a breeze for her, hell for me. : ) School has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for her, as she also holds the CDC position within her division.

We have had our… Continue
