Received the form letter today. Yippee! Even before I opened it I noticed a change in my son or should I say in his handwriting. Matt was never known for being a great handwriter but this envelope was printed to perfection. He must have used a ruler it was so perfect! My husband and I laughed thinking that his superiors probably made him rewrite it until it was perfect. Wonder how many envelopes he went through? :)
He didn't say much but sounded good. He is on Ship 02, DIV…

Made me very excited... I didn't get emotional... thanks to all the MOMS on this site who prepared me for it...

Well, it's been more than a year since Ashley joined the Navy. As a new Navy Mom in Feb 2011, I thought I was not going to get through boot camp, however with a little help from my friends on Navy Moms - Division 922, I got through it! At that time I was not really sure about my daughter joining the Military; however a year later I see that it was a good thing, a very good thing! She received additional training in San Antonio Corpsman and now she is settled at the…

So, I finally got all moved into my tiny hotel room at about 3 a.m. yesterday (Monday). I got about 3 hours sleep and went to work. It was a good thing... Every muscle ached and it took my mind off my heartache. Until I went to bed last night. I sent a text to my "future" ex-husband asking if anything had arrived in the mail. He said, "Nope." So, I'm still waiting for the box.... I bought some paper and envelopes yesterday... deciding to start writing to Bug, even though I can't mail…

Today I was hoping the "dreaded box" was going to arrive. I waited all day and it did not. I guess it'll be tomorrow. What is funny... it no longer feels like a "dreaded box"... thanks to this site and other mothers that have shared their experience receiving "the box"... I am actually looking forward to it...

How is it that a week can fly by and yet drag along all at the same time?!? It seems that when I slow down so too does time. I am so ready to hear from my son. I know it's only been a week but I will feel so much better when I can actually write to him.
Who knew that the mailman would become the most important part of my day. I work from home and I must check that mailbox 5 times a day just praying for the form letter from Matt. The good news is that I think the mailman must…

our first letter came today with the graduation information. i was so exicted to to see what zac had to write. i should have know it would be short and sweet. it was still nice to something written from him saying that he was okay. i am all ready to send my first letter out to him. my husband actually called me at work to let me know that the letter came, i was so excited i made him read it to me over the phone but i was even more excited to see it in person. i can't believe how a few…

Dropped my son off in Miami on 2/28. I could tell he was ready. Dropped my IPhone in the toilet on 2/29 waiting all day for his 15 second call announcing his arrival in Great Lakes... 1 borrowed phone later I received the call at 2:30 a.m. It was very robotic and just freaked me out.. I realized I was not ready... On March 1st, I came to N4M's web site and really explored it... Found all the info on the Navy Moms Newbies... and read all information and viewed all videos... what a…

Well, it's 4:20 a.m. on Sunday morning. Bug left early Thursday. I worked on Saturday because I took time off on Wednesday and Thursday to be with him before he left...Time to try to make up hours. It made for a really long day...but that was good as I still feel like I'm in limbo. I don't know if his training days have actually started yet or if he's still on P days. I suspect the latter. It's helped to watch the videos and read about what actually happens day by day... still, I miss…

This is a letter written that helped her recruit see who they really are;
I want you to be happy in your life’s choices and where ever you go and what ever you do…The friendships you will make will be for a life time. Your superiors who are yelling at you now, I know is hard to comprehend but they will be your friends, leaders and mentors for your Life. You will see that everything they teach you, tell you and show you will forever be a guidance for you…

for all of you have kids at bc right now, we have survived week one without them. wow what a tough week, first sending our kids off to unkown territory, the "i'm here call", and then receiving their belongings in the brown box. apparently it's only going to get better once we get and address and start sending letters, or atleast that's what i'm hoping! i hope and pray that all of our children our okay and doing well. my thoughts are with each and every one of!

Well, I managed to make it through the second day of Bug's absence. If you remember, I couldn't sleep last night... I finally dozed at around 5 a.m.... Of course, I have to leave for work by 6:45...Did NOT happen. LOL. I spend most of the time exploring the N4M site. What a great place! I'm still overwhelmed with it all...but have thankfully found women to share the journey.
I worked almost 11 hours today...ugh! But it also meant I did a pretty good job being…
