Any Kansas moms?

Was wondering if there are any mothers from Kansas? I live in Wichita and my daughter left for basic training about 13 days ago. I do have so many questions. But mostly are pertaining to my daughters happiness. We received her forum letter the other day and she wrote to us about how unhappy she is. I know its homesickness talking, but still heartbreaking none the less. She stated she wants to come home to us and misses us so much. Ugh this made us cry. I'm hoping thing will get better for her,… Continue

Big Day!

Wow - it feels like the end is in sight. I know that there are still hurdles for my son to get through at BC but I'm starting to feel more confident that everything is going fine in Bootcamp.

I was looking at the nuke moms group and now I'm starting to get worried about him at nuke school. Will a mother's worry never end?

Robbed On Deployment 2

Okay... Let me start by saying apparently he was not robbed... He went to a concert last summer and got hit in the face with an elbow dislocating his jaw and doing some damage to the bone underneath your eye so he went into a civillian hospital and thats where stuff happened. When he originally emailed me stating that he was a victim of idenity theft I was so worried about him and waited with no resolution. Plus he is on deployment making it far more difficult. Finally after not hearing… Continue

Second Stage Emotions.

Well, I am definitely in the second stage of emotion during deployment. I'm starting to feel guilty about EVERYTHING! It doesn't matter what is, I feel guilty about it. Today, when I put my daughter down for a nap, I felt guilty about it. Then she didn't want what I made for dinner so I made her something else...felt guilty about that. lol. I just feel this way all day off and on. Its a crazy feeling. But I feel like I'm sort of coming out of this stage..so I'm ready for the next… Continue

Got a letter from my son saying he had gotten sick with sore throat and fever. He said he went to sick bay and they loaded him up with antibiotics. He was on LLD (Light Limited Duty) until Saturday, then returned to full duty. That was this past Saturday judging on the letter arriving last Tuesday. Haven't heard anything else, so we are assuming that "no news is good news". We also assume he will make his PIR on the 5th of November. We are so very proud of him. Continue

HEY...

Happy Bithday U.S.Navy...

May calm seas surround you,

May warm rays lift your spirits,

May beckoning smiles reframe your memories,

May hearty handshakes remind you of home,

With laughter shared before lights out,

my son was separated and sent to ship #5

My son went in on Sept. 21. He called us the following week because something had gone wrong. He was going in as E-3 Master At Arms. He passed all the tests, physical, medical, etc here with flying colors. When he got there he failed an eye exam which said that he had a very slight color disorder. Because of this, he was disqualified from his job (M/A). He was separated from his boot camp unit and sent to Ship #5 which seems to be a holding barracks where they send the sick, hurt, or people… Continue
