EOD Mom- Ditto on the sending letters/cards to SR's that aren't getting any. I remind my son in every letter to make a list if he notices some not receving mail.
Amada-Congrats on getting the call! Oh my gosh, my heart is breaking for that SR and I will be praying for all of them! How sad! Thank you for sharing your survey answers! I sent mine yesterday and cannot wait to see the answers!
Have a great weekend everyone....you are all amazing! Hugs and prayers to you!
I just got a call from SR!!!!!! So excited! My heart is still racing!!!! Phone call was cut short, but that's OK!!!
All moms- be praying for a SR in the 925 division. Do not know who it was, but my SR told me someone broke down today. Word is that he had no one to call home too. My SR is also going to send me names of SR's not getting mail so we can mail them cards.
Hoping everyone gets a phone call soon!!!
Woohoo for letters!
Amanda, the run is tough on quite a few of the SR's. He will still have more opportunities to pass.
Got a letter and a questionaire back today!!! He says he is doing well! Has made several friends, from New Hampshire, Phillie, Mississippi, Ohio and Houston. Also mentioned another friend but did not mention where he is from, but said he found out I had been talking with his mom. So now I have to figure out which one of you ladies that is. LOL From the questionaire- (Thanks FLTW!) He is loving his jobs. His bed is the bottom bunk that is too hard. He has not bunk mate. Said he is the only one in the division without one. The yelling has stayed the same. Has gotten IT only twice for calling Chief a PO instead. But the division as a whole has gotten it for people messing up. On a scale of 1-10 the division is a 5 for working as a team. He passed the swim test and on the PFA I think passed sit up and push ups. I need to look up those requirements. But has not passed the run yet. (Never his strongest point. He has always been a faster swimmer than a runner.) He is looking forward to Battlestations, wants to know when they get to blow stuff up, and BC starts way to early in the morning! LOL
Hope everyone else gets a letter in their mailbox soon!!!
Vivian - Yippee on your letter!! I'm so excited for you and she sounds like she's doing fabulous!! I know you are one happy Momma!! Have a wonderful weekend!
Got a letter today! Dated March 21. She loves everything so far. Said she volunteered for Port Watch? She mentioned some of the girls are not getting mail and she feels bad for them, I asked to send names so we can send cards of encouragement. She also mentioned she was a EPO Education Petty Officer she is helping everyone study for their tests (yikes) She says she knows all the subjects. She is also assistant port watch. Half of the things she writes I just don't understand so many initials. The letter was short and she closed with the food (CHOW) is good. hmmmm not sure how to take that, was my cooking that bad or is the Navy food that good.
Yep, CB. No assigned seats (just sit in division section) like Craig said. Just meant that they tell you that for those not on the lists, they may make those wait in the Visitors Center until all on the lists are seated inside to see about space. But they normally don't even do this. Craig attended a PIR that had 13 divisions (large)...we heard that even all of the extras in that group got in...not even sure they had to wait.
Also, many consider as "favorite" --seats in different places. Some consider the bottom row top choice so they can RUN to their sailors quickly at liberty call, and so no one stands up in front of them. Others consider the top row ideal where you can lean back on the concrete wall (those go quickly, as do the bottom rows). We opted for the middle of the section...halfway up, and had no problems. Just dealing with people in front and behind you then. Signs are not supposed to be brought in, but some manage to get some it. Just hope that they don't jump up holding up their sign when your division marches in...which could block your view. This happened to a mom here recently...how disappointing. So remember, everyone, save the signs for the cars and the hotel rooms!
Thanks Craig! Where's the BEST seat? Low, middle, or top?
Diannep, You mentioned lists being seated. The seats aren't assigned are they? Can we sit where we want within our section? II hope they are just waiting till everyone on the list has a seat.
Also, I read that they only bus them out for the airport as a group (one trip) Just curious with a smaller PIR class than most, if they might have them all hang at Great Lakes for another week and combine the 2 smaller groups into one? Uggh! Just trying to figure out the possible scenarios for liberty, so we don't miss time with our sailor. LOL!
