Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

The recruits can't do anything about petty family arguments, or the fact that the cat died. You will only cause stress in a place where they have enough. Send jokes, they don't get a lot of chances to laugh at BC...LOL Always tell them that you are proud, and support them 100%. The biggest thing to remember is that BC is temporary, and you will talk to them again. They didn;t go to another planet, it only feels that way..

Comment by diannep on May 17, 2012 at 7:37am: smitters: If they are flying out to A School, that usually happens the day after PIR. They are bussed to the airport in the wee hours. You can meet your sailor out there to wait until the plane leaves (you will be able to get a gate pass). Your sailor will know at PIR what time he/she will be bussed. Many like to get there before the bus does, so they can wait for their sailors. It is precious extra time spent with your sailors! Liberty for those flying out is really just Friday after PIR until about 8 or 9 pm.
