One thing on the civies your SR may want after graduation. If they are wanting t-shirts they must have something printed on them, especially if they are white, blue or black (i think those are the right colors).

They are to wear nothing that looks like undergarments. My son said if I sent him t-shirts just make sure it has something "printed" on it. It was a better safe than sorry (for me) request from my son.

We went to Gurnee MIlls mall after PIR and the first stop was Victoria Secret for new undies. The second stop was the bathroom so she could change out of the granny panties lol. And in the trash they went :-)

My daughter packed a whole HUGE suitcase before she left for bootcamp and since I drove she had me bring the whole thing so she could get what she wanted out of it and get it from the airport. She looked through it and picked out almost nothing. It was like she was a different person and those clothes would really be need anymore. She now has a higher standard for the way she dresses lol. Much more grown up and I bet a lot of them go through that as well.

Thanks for the fast response, Diannep!  I'll stop fretting over which of her clothes to bring - I've been asking her in the last few letters but she hasn't addressed that question, LOL!  Anyways - I can't wait to see all of them at PIR - God bless our SRs!

SUNYmom:  They cannot wear "civies" until they phase up--takes a couple to a few weeks. But some will take a few with them to A School, and will lock them up until they can wear them.  Or...you can mail the clothes to them later.  My son's A School was about 3 mos long.  He took no civies, and just bought a few when he phased up to last him until he got more clothes when he came home after A School.

I don't think I would take an extra suitcase.  They have their seabag, garment bag (uniforms)---both checked luggage---and their black backpack (Navy issued).  So usually we tell you that "extra" given to them at the airport can most likely fit in one of these.  The seabags are pretty heavy, and the garment bag a bit bulky, so handling another suitcase may be a chore.  Just my opinion!

And, on behalf of all of us N4Moms veteran ladies here, you are welcome!  We love helping!
