If any of you need Phone Cards for your SR...go to Calls for Recruits.org and get them for FREE....they send FREE Pre-Paid Phone Cards for Recruits in Boot Camp!!!
I'm just now catching up from yesterday. They don't have room to store much - they have space under their rack. Don't worry if you aren't sending stamps and phone cards. You can send those things but they can get them at the NEX there - they have a "gift card" that they use (the money is taken out of their check) for little incidentals. They have Navy envelopes and stationary to write on.
Mail call is huge. When my son got his first mail call he wrote and said that he had just finished reading "all 17 of the letters" he got at mail call. He was so excited because he got more than anyone. He mentioned that over and over. I wrote every single day and told him everything - even what color I got my nails painted that day. They just want to hear about the day to day normal stuff - all of it! LOL I also printed little jokes that people sent me on the internet and included those and printed pictures. Only send 2-3 pages at a time though. Fat envelopes get attention and NO attention is best!
Good Morning!!!
Lala - your post from yesterday about those who have A-school in GL was exactly the way it was just this past January (2012). We had just a few minutes with our sailor right after PIR. Then, he went back to pack and move to the new base across the street. About 4 hours later he called and we went to pick him up at the new base. He stayed with us until that evening and then we picked him up early the next morning. We had him all day Saturday and took him back and picked him up again Sunday morning until we had to leave to catch our flight. I wished we had taken a later flight because he didn't have to be back as early as we dropped him.
YOu are very welcome Travis' mom, we are all happy to help.
Good morning everyone :-)
Good Morning everyone!
I talked to a friend of mine at work who was there not long ago for her son. She stayed at the Hampton Inn in Libvertyville. She said is was nice when she was there.
Hello everyone. Thank you to all who help keep this site so "infomed". It really is so helpful and also comforting. I was wondering if any of the veteran Mom's can comment on whether or not our kids are able to stock pile or have a safe place to keep calling cards and stamps if we start sending them each week?
Travis' mom, if you look just above the box where you post comments you will see a list of discussions. Just click on add a discussion right above this comment wall. It will be easier for others to find your DIV discussion here on this group page instead of making a separate group.
