TysonsMom, I have a son, my eldest, in the ship/div.  He is the first in this genaration to join the armed forces, and the first sailor ever!  I couldn't be more proud of him.

LindenEmry (Ship 7 Div 163), welcome to N4M's!  It is an informative, wonderful, and overwhelming site.  You better believe our sailors rock!!  I see ours are in the same ship/div.... who do you have there, son or daughter?

lynnvikings, thanks for the info.  I am making my plans to head home on Saturday. Though I was unaware that Tyson would be leaving for CT so early, I knew there was very little chance of us getting to spend time with him after Friday evening. I will be traveling WA state to Great Lakes on the heels of a trip abroad. As much as I want to see my son graduate, I will be almost as happy to be finally headed home and getting caught up on my sleep. : )

Oh, to answer the initial question:  My son arrived at BC 3/29.  The last he told me, he'll be heading to sub school in Groton after the PIR.

Welcome to all our Moms who just joined. I am so excited to see you.

Griffsma-We almost had the same situation. Thank God the schedule at home opened up. Congradulations to your youngest son. Does he have any idea what he wants to do after he graduates? One reccomendation is; have your son in GL order a dvd of PIR. I know it's not the same but you'll be able to share a part of it. Best of luck to both your boys!

Fireteamleaderwife, Hope everything works out and you are back with us soon. I love the Snoopy!

tysonsmom, sorry for the typo... about gate.  We were able to sit at the gate with him. Which was fun, we got to meet the other sailors who were also flying to groton.

Comment by lynnvikings on April 13, 2012 at 7:50am

TysonsMom,Ship 07 div 163. Yes , Groton CT is where your son will probably be going. The New London Submarine Base. My son is there now. He has been there since his PIR which was 7/22/2011. He should be done with school in May of June.I went to my sons PIR at Great Lakes. He had to fly out Saturday at about  6am. We met our son at the airport and got pass so we could sit at gate the gate with him. The buses head to the airport at about 2am. so there is some wait time at the gate . :) So,if you have a sailor going to Groton, plan on them leaving early the next day after PIR.
