Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

It IS a dream to live in California, but unlike SamisMom, I live in Southern California where I am within reach of the beaches, mountains, deserts, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Hollywood, etc....etc....!! With the snow, we don't have to stay in it, we can go to it, then come back down~~ :D

So, diannep - are you saying that the 3 Meet & Greets will be going on simultaneously? Therefore, we have to choose which on we are going to? If that's true, we may not get to meet each other unless we arrange to go to the same one with any particular mom....right?

Saratoga: Ramada has its own shuttle bus. The other hotels use the shuttle service (taxis acting as shuttles) on PIR morning and it is $3/pp each way.
There are actually 3 MeetandGreets, all the night before PIR. Just for families/friends of the sailors....the sailors won't be there. Sarge's is the most popular (you can get info on his by clicking on another of the PIR groups Sarge MeetandGreet event in the EVENTS column to the right of this screen.) He will be posting this group's link on the EVENTS calendar in a couple of weeks.

Saratoga - it is most definitely beautiful here!! I live in the Foothills of the Sierras at about 2,000 feet - used to live on Donner Summit!! close to 7,000!!! LOL Anyway,it will be great to meet in person and then when you actualize your dream to come out here - let me know!
And thanks tjjernigan - I hope so too. But it was really good, really good, to hear her voice and she sounded so good. She says she has a job and feels that she's pretty good at it so that's awesome. That's encouraging that she's feeling successful. :o)
navyboyzrus03 - it sounds like a great plan you have for a drive - making it fun! I hope your Chief gets to go to PIR before having to deploy. Fingers crossed!
