N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons - How very beautiful! Congratulations, Grandma!! Do you know whether it's a girl or boy, yet?

Comment by diannep on July 15, 2013 at 6:33pm

MomLovesRyan:  No, you would not need the gate pass, but I had mine in my purse...just because!  :-)  Picture ID is the important thing.  I actually had the form letter in my purse too but didn't have to show it to them.

And, yes, just tell them your sailor's name/division number.

My Sailor had her pregnancy pics yesterday and I have only received one so far but it is so pretty i  just have to share it with all my Navy family. I hope you don't mind :) I can't believe my baby is going to be a mommy. It seems like she was a baby just a short time ago <3

diannep - So then, if we go on the shuttle, we don't need anything with us except our picture ID? We just tell them the Sailor's name and show our ID, right? We don't have to carry the gate/parking pass with us. ?

Comment by diannep on July 15, 2013 at 1:48pm

When I say "submitted by your sailors" I mean....those lists that they turned in about a week before PIR are the ones that will allow access to the base.  The gate personnel will have them.

Comment by diannep on July 15, 2013 at 1:47pm

MomLovesRyan:  The updated guest lists were submitted by your sailors.  I took my original one with me, but don't think I had to show it.  The guest lists have nothing to do with the PIR gate passes.  There are no tickets to get in....they go by your sailor's list.

Ok. So, I want to make sure I have this straight. If you take the shuttle and don't need the gate pass, how do they check you off against your name on your Sailors invitation list. I'm kind of confused. I thought we needed that as - kind of a ticket-like thing.

Great!  Thanks so much CatMom and diannep:)

If you don't have the PIR gate pass, and you need to drop off your sailor at RTC, you can drop him/her at the front gate without the pass.  Just means that he/she has further to walk to the ship.

So if at all possible, please plan to download the PIR gate pass.

MomLovesRyan: On Sarge's shuttle, the front gates at RTC open at 6:30.  We took the area shuttle service when there (didn't know about Sarge, but they are the same price)...and left at 6:30.  Arrived at RTC about 6:40, in PIR hall a few minutes after 7.

I believe that Sarge has a "sign up" sheet at the MeetandGreet for his shuttle service.  There is also an area shuttle service (taxis acting as shuttles for that morning).  You can usually sign up for this when you check into your hotel.  You just tell them the time you want to sign up for (at least, that is how they did it at Residence Inn).  We had no problems with the shuttle and were able to pick one back up by the front gate after PIR was over.

Good Morning All!
