N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Darleen,

Praying that you will find loving caregivers for your mom while you are at PIR.  May she have a total and complete recovery from her cancer surgery!

Saratoga,

You are correct that you won't need the gate pass if you are taking the shuttle to PIR.  But if you are driving your Sailor back to RTC after liberty, you will need it then to go onto base to drop him/her off.  We didn't need it because we had Sarge bring my Sailor daughter back.  We paid him $6 because we had coordinated with another family at our hotel who also had a Sailor who needed to return at the same time.  We wanted to get some rest before meeting her at the wee hours at Midway to see her off!  It's a good idea to have a copy of the gate pass "just in case."

@MomlovesRyan,

I don't think we need a gate pass if we are taking the shuttle.  Ladies?  Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hello dear new friends.  I have not been on my computer for some time now.  My Mom came from Florida to stay with us while she had cancer surgery.  We are one week post-surgery and still needs lots of care.  Trying my best to find friends in this busy world who can stay with and care for her while we are in Illinois.  Please pray that I can find caregivers so that my hubby and I can come to our grandson's PIR.  Also looking forward to seeing you all too!  Have a wonderful day!

And just for fun, you all were talking about what you are wearing so thought I'd tell you what my sailors sister and I are wearing (oh how exciting!!! She's a SAILOR now!!!!!!) lol
I'm wearing a dress that has a white bodice with a black with white pinstripes skirt (thought it was blue but its ok) and it has short cap sleeves. With black open toed heals. The fun part is I have a red multi stringed glass bead necklace and a red wide belt so I'm red, white and not blue! My daughter is wearing a red skirt with a white blouse, and an awesome American flag like scarf that is gray, blue and red. Adorable! We thought the colors we chose would look great with our sailor in her dress whites. :o)

MomMovesRyan - that last question is actually one I know the answer to!! Lol! I had texted Sarge a week or so ago asking him that same question. He said we will sign up at his Meet & Greet. :o)

How early will the shuttle take us from the Navy Lodge to PIR? Would they pick us up as early as 6am? Should we book it with Sarge ahead of time? Or will it be sufficient to do that at Meet & Greet?

Comment by MomLovesRyan Ship 09 Div 266 on July 15, 2013 at 8:10am

I'm assuming that one pass per car is sufficient? But, how does the parking/gate pass work if you're on the shuttle? Do you bring one pass per person? Or one pass for your group? If your group is split - does each part bring one pass? (I think I'm driving myself crazy!!!)

Comment by diannep on July 15, 2013 at 7:54am

Yes, I understand, BA'sMom.  It is a big responsibility to bring them, especially being so little.

Good Morning All !

Not sure if anyone went through BattleStations last night, but thinking probably not with such a small group here---they don't always go on Sunday nights.  But phones handy for all remaining divisions this afternoon just in case!
