For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Question - does anyone know how late the SRs may be able to change names for PIR? Also - since our PIR group is so small with only 7 divisions, what are the chances that they MAY leave in extra people?

Should clarify that the hotel "on base" is not on RTC. It is on the A School base and the hotel is actually a few miles from RTC. For those staying in GL for A School with family staying at the Gateway hotel, they will need to request a chit during in processing at the A School base in order to visit family in the Gateway on base. Students are normally not allowed at the hotel.
If military families are staying at Gateway, but their new sailor is flying out for A School and therefore will remain at RTC until transport to the airport, it may not be a problem visiting the hotel. Rules for those sailors are set by RTC, not the A School base.

FutureNavyWife, The Navy Lodge is actually located in the family housing subdivision. It is only about 1.5 miles from the RTC gate and in the evening you can hear TAPS being played on the base.
Sarge has a taxi service and does a Meet and Greet the night before PIR. He is a great source of info about the area, restaurants, etc.

FutureNavyWife22 - The Navy Lodge isn't on base. But, it's very close. You can either drive there, or you can have Sarge drive you. I think it's $3/person to go with Sarge. There is a hotel on base - it's Navy Gateway Inns & Suites.
