Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Exactly ProudNavyMom!! It's weird that it's already been a week....and it sure is nice being able to talk to my sailor more frequently!!! :o) I do think I will continue to write though - that was a nice change from texts.

Hello everyone!! Oh my gosh - what an amazing week we had last week!!!! It's hard to think that just a week ago we were sound asleep at the Navy Lodge after having arrived at 4:30AM!!! LOL But boy, we sure had a wonderful time with our sailor and the city of Chicago!!! As well as with Sarge! What a great source of everything!!! I highly recommend him for any of your future travels to the Great Lakes area.
Darleen - my baby girl is staying in GL for her A school. :o) I don't know if I can say the ship she is in there or not. Is your sailor staying there too? What job? Mine is EN (enginman/woman!) :o)

Seemed odd to see the "countdown" at all zeros. Just want you all to know how much I have enjoyed being on this sight and getting to know everyone and hearing about your adventures. Praying you all will be blessed and continue to encourage your Sailors as well as your family at home. Did any of you have time to venture out of Waukegan during the weekend of PIR? We actually traveled North up the coast of Lake Michigan toward and into Wisconsin to Kenosha and found the most gorgeous Beach, Park and Marina. Spent hours there, just taking lots of photos and walking in the sand. Many photo 'ops' for our Sailor and his new fiancé. God bless you all!
