Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good Morning Navy Family, I wanted to wish you all a Safe and Happy 4th of July. I hope you all get to hug your Sailors very soon and since PIR is only a couple week away I know you all are super excited to see them. :) Please tell them that this Navy Mom truly appreciates them for deciding to serve our great country and protect our freedoms. I also want to thank all of you for raising such fine young men and women and for all you do to be supportive to your own recruits/sailors and for supporting all of ours as well. Bravo Zulu to all of you!!!! And Happy 4th of July!!!

My Sailor daughter was a "stick" too and she got blessed she didn't have to actually carry one, so she was very visible marching in and standing at attention and parade rest during PIR. Also, the RTC puts out photos of each PIR on their Facebook page U.S.Navy Recruit Training Command. I was able to download a bunch of pictures of my Sailor onto my computer!!

We are staying at the Holiday Inn-Waukegan. Yes name tags will be wonderful so we can see who is who....I am doing a Gift Basket from MN with Tastefully Simple products.....I can't wait to see him, I miss him so much....

I think a lot of people will be getting letters on Friday this week! It should be a very happy day! Happy 4th to you, too! Meet and Greet should be a great time! We need to wear our nametags with both screen names and real names. I can't remember if you are staying at the Navy Lodge or not.....but, it would be good to wear our name tags there, too. I'm not going to get there til about 3pm, though.

How wonderful that you got a letter today....dad came home from work and asked if we got any mail? HaHa.....he said he didn't think that we would get a letter today since we have been getting them on Thursdays, so looks like Friday we should get one, but really hoping for a call. Tomorrow or Friday.

Got a letter today and he is also moving to Ship 11 along with a whole bunch of other SR. He said he doesn't know why--but I read somewhere that it could be because of some type of construction--no worries! He also said he is he gets another shot in the butt and the gas chamber this coming week. Sounded pretty good overall though!
