Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I received a letter today! It has been the best one so far but he is having trouble passing the running test. He needs to shave another minute off his time. His last chance is July 9 or he will be separated. I'm praying for him!!!
He also told ne that as if July 4. He will be moved to smother ship.
Can someone tell me why? I already bought a challenge coin for this ship. Should I buy another?

Thanks diannep for info about the shuttle. that's what my friend said she did (a couple of weeks ago her sailor graduated) and she said it was very convenient and easy and no traffic to deal with.
OMG - I sooo hope we get our "I'm a sailor" call next week!!! Soooo exciting!!!

You're welcome!! And you are so funny!! Wonder if you can blow up the generic blank female form and use it as part of your name tag??? It's a bit dark at Sarge's Meet & Greet because Sarge shows continuous audio visual and there are other Navy families there not part of Navy for Moms. You might want to figure out a way to help you guys find each other if you you want~~

D Navy: As far as car or shuttle on PIR day, shuttles bypass the car lines so they are usually easier ($3/pp each way). However, some like having a car there to leave when they want rather than possibly waiting on an available shuttle. We had a rental car too, but took the shuttle on the advice of a friend in a previous group. It was very easy and convenient!

MomLovesRyan: 265/266 are the first divisions to complete training. Most likely, your I'm a Sailor call will come either Thurs or Fri next week. We can't post exact dates on here, but that should be the time period.
