Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I have been spending lots of time with my Sailor. She is home on leave and it is so good to see her. I probably won't get to see her again until I go visit her when it is time for the baby to be born <3 We are so excited to meet Eastyn in about 8 more weeks :)

Greetings. I was told by recruiter (haven't rcvd form letter) that my SR is Div 265Ship 9. Can I verify or just wait?  We are native Illini, stok'd that fam & friends will see him. presently live in MS. any Mississippians out there.  SRs dad is Army, so we've moved around a bit.  So he fits right in with those who want to see the world. He's MM. Full steam ahead. Grace & Peace to all SRs and families.

Hi everyone,

I was looking at a gift for Sean for graduation and know I saw a discussion on the boot camp group but needed to find out which watch is the best with their uniforms. I know I can find it at Walmart but not sure the brand. If anyone can help that would be great thank you.

AuntieMel  They will remove the wisdom teeth if they think there is any chance they could cause issues when your sailor is deployed....many have them removed, some are "watched" through A School (may be done there), and some are ok.  Others already had them out before bootcamp!  That was the case with my son.

If anyone else calls Navy Lodge to book, please ask if you still need to book in your newly graduated sailor's name if a non-military family, because like ellen said, that is always the way it has been in the past.  We want to make sure we are passing out correct info!

proudofmysons:  Dip those carrot/celery sticks in "melted chocolate!"  Hmmmm!

Deanna:  Here are the hotels that we have received the most positive feedback on in the past few years:

Navy Lodge (close and economical)

Springhill Suites Waukegan

Courtyard Inn Waukegan

Residence Inn Waukegan

Holiday Inn Express Waukegan

Ask for the Navy Graduation rate at all of these hotels.

All of these Waukegan hotels are about 4 miles from RTC and either use the local PIR shuttle service or you can use Sarge's service. They are also close to Sarge's MeetandGreet, held the night before PIR.

Sigh....I see that ellen is misbehaving again, using her emotion icons to stick "her" tongue out at me....into the corner for her!  :-)

Comment by ellen0502 on June 6, 2013 at 4:59pm

The Navy Lodge may have changed their policy on your SRs name when making the reservation, it has been a year since I have been there. The $66 rate is the discounted rate I paid a year ago, so...

You guys are making it hard for me to be happy eating my carrot and celery sticks for lunch while browsing this site!

Just read the previous comments, I hope we will receive a letter today! It will be great to hear from our son, I am sure he is doing great.
