Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The letters written on Sunday actually go out on Monday, so you all should have your "mail" day of the week to expect those letters!
Good Morning All !
How nice, ellen! Hey, I was a good girl and shared a freshly made warm brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream last night with 2 friends....but it was hard! I wanted to rip those spoons out of their hands and say MINE! :-) It sure was good!

Received a letter in the mail from my SR. Said the bunks are very uncomfortable and that does not help with the lack of sleep that they have been getting. Lots to learn in a short time. Were doing their swimming test this week. Learned how to fold and stow- started marching. Food was good. Had to get all four of his wisdom teeth pulled. They get mail everyday but their letters only get mailed on Sunday.

Seaman Apprentice Robert F. Kennedy,
Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated today, June 5th, 1968, in Los Angeles Ambassador Hotel after claiming victory in California's Democratic presidential primary. Gunman Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was immediately arrested.
Robert F. Kennedy was in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1943-1946, enlisting as a Seaman Apprentice.
Asking to be released from Officer training, he served a Seaman Apprentice onboard the USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., named for his Navy Lt. brother, a Naval Aviator who was KIA during a highly dangerous mission in the European Theater during WWII. Robert Kennedy joined the ship in January '46, and was honorably discharged in May that same year.

ellen0502 - I have the best recipe for hot fudge. You melt 24 oz. of dark chocolate chips with a can of evaporated milk in a double boiler. When it's all melted and mixed, you can a bag of mini-marshmallows. Mix as it all melts together. It is AMAZING!

Well, diannep likes to torture me with thoughts of a certain word she says. She knows I am on a diet and that thing is forbidden for me yet she continues to do so... Crap now I am thinking about it.
Hersheys chocolate bar, M&Ms, oh...Dove Chocolate, Rolo's, chocolate cream pie, chocolate ice cream pie, chocolate cake. SEE WHAT I MEAN?
