OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

One of the ways I am trying not to miss my son is by offering assistance to other people's children. I'm in an area with several Navy bases nearby. Try this group to see if it's for you: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/sailorrescuelist  Also, today going to local Washington moms group get together to make stuff for care packages for a ship. They apparently do this often. Should be fun to meet all the moms. Hope they are as great a group as this one!

I would really love to learn sign language. But what I really need to do is study college algebra so I can CLEP out of this class and complete my bachelors in nursing! I've been putting it off since December! It's the only thing I need for them to send me my diploma.

Well ladies, once again life (read, work) got in the way of me being on here today! I would really like to make/create every thing that I pin on Pinterest! Since that's an impossible dream, I'd settle for learning how to cook German food. I know how to eat it really well, now just want to know how to make it myself!

Momof2 what a fantastic thing to do. I went to animal control to pick up a foster pup until she recovers from her surgery and is able to travel to NY to a new home.

My daughter was just telling me the same thing about working with the recruiters!

Well...today, I DID go and sign up for volunteering for the campaign office for the upcoming elections...and I also started looking into finding a volunteer position working with abused women, and children at the local women's shelter.  I escaped an abusive relationship with my 2 children 15 years ago...and am blessed to have an awesome husband and stepfather for my kids! Maybe now that I don't know what to do with myself...it's time to give back and help others find what I have!!!

Kira my son said the same thing about the recruiters office
Comment by Kira (Daughter AT1 Whidbey) on September 28, 2012 at 2:38pm

One thing my daughter told me was that she will be volunteering at the recruiting office during her Christmas leave and every day she puts in a few hours at the office does not subtract from her leave balance. She said she can get up to 5 days free during one leave period.

She also said that either they get Christmas Day or New Year's Day on their winter leave but not both. She's asking for New Year's (since she's Buddhist and for Japanese it's the most important holiday.) But since she won't class up in AT school in Pensacola for another month or so, Thanksgiving looks like a no-go.

good morning ladies I haven't been on in a few days okay maybe a week I've been having some issues this week Wednesday mark 12 years since the death of my nephew and I don't care what anybody says it does not get easier you just learn to cope... my friend's someone that I have known all his life committed suicide over a girl... and of course I had flashbacks to 12 years ago... not a good time right now

I can see that I am not the only 1 having a pity party... guess I should have been on here :-)

on a lighter note Gio classed up and started school this week he absolutely loves it he says... he did have to move down 1 floor and has a different roommate but still someone who was in his division so that's good!!!

let's see something I wanted to try and learn would be to knit I am crafty but that's 1 thing I haven't learned to do...
:-)
